A beautiful and haunting vignette, written in the first person, Michael’s point of view. After his having arranged the meeting for Nikita’s mother to see her ‘dying’ daughter, Michael stands in his office, watching Nikita move from one person to another, and bemoaning the fact that he seems only destined to bring her sorrow.
