"Names"

Nikita walks into the office and rolls her head from side to side. She looks at the clock and moves to her desk for her prenatal vitamins. She pulls at the bottle and a small card falls down from the shelf. Nikita tilts her head in thought and slowly drops the vitamins into her hands. She pulls at the bottle of water and swallows the vitamins down, and now Elana would be proud of her.

Nikita sits down in her chair as her eyes are brought back to the little card. Nikita uses her pinkie finger to slit the envelope and pulls out the card.

Shane--- Masculine; Gift from God
Pepita --- Feminine; that of like Josephine

Nikita looks at the card and presses it down to the ink blotter. It had to have been from Michael, as he was starting to think of names. Nikita had been so torn with what way to chose a name, that she just rather not think about it. Nikita was sure that she would think of the perfect name for the child when she knew it. There was still the popular debate over the sex of the child.

Nikita tilts her head back and sighs with resignation of the card and her beliefs. She had read several articles that just happened to appear on her desk that a child could start to learn its own name before birth. Nikita knew now that she was being pushed in some sort of direction, and now Nikita was sure that it was more than one person. Also, if she believed the articles, she should learn the sex of the child, which was a point that Madeline had continued to stick to her. Nikita had been lucky so far, as Elana promised not to reveal to anyone what she had learned.

Nikita looks down to her stomach and brushes a hand against it. She doesn't believe she should have to name the child yet. It doesn't feel right yet, and Nikita was sure that she would know when she found the right name. Nikita leans up and takes the phone into her hand. She sighs softly as she recognizes what she was doing. It was almost sad to Nikita. She was buckling into the pressures of everyone's desires about her child and not doing what she wanted.

"Birkoff….." Nikita says into the phone as she fingers the card again. She didn't mind the name Shane for a boy, but the Pepita…. She hated. Nikita pulls the card up and tears the name away, so now all she is left with is Shane. It sounds like a traditional name to Nikita and she looks down.

"Yes, Nikita?" Birkoff responds and Nikita smiles and swallows as the vitamins sit in her stomach. Nikita drops the card and is about to stop her actions.

"Do you know who has been in my office today?" Nikita asks and Birkoff giggles for a second.

"It's also Michael's office. That has been the only person." Birkoff replied with the humor still on his voice. Nikita looks to the card and thinks about Michael's face this morning when she said she didn't want to think about this.

"Birkoff, find me some web sites on baby names." Nikita says and stands up. She wanted the name to come to her, and she felt that searching a name out wasn't going to be the same. She rubs her stomach softly and remembers Michael's face. He had been so sad when Nikita just dropped the subject.

Nikita smiles as she looks to the door and starts to head out of the office. She decides that she can at least start looking at names. She had a few in mind, but she was sure that Michael was the traditional man that left that card for her. She was sure than Michael would not like the name like Ridge or Brooke. Nikita stands out in the hallway and looks around. There were so man people in Section One that had names that Nikita could never imagine naming their kids. Nikita had always wondered what kind of drugs Birkoff's mother was one when she named him Seymour.

*

Nikita walks down the hallway and looks from side to side. There was Gigi, the blonde mission profiler, and Nikita had always hated the name. She moves further down the hallway and sees the person that she was seeking out.

"Michael!" Nikita calls out as she sees him starting to move away from the computer desk that he was consulting at. Michael turns around and smiles at Nikita.

"Are we ready to go down to Medlab?" Michael questions and Nikita lifts an eyebrow and stares at Michael. Michael frowns and moves Nikita out of the middle of the hallway.

"Nikita is thinking about baby names. Start sending them to her computer." Birkoff whispers into the telephone as he looks at Michael and Nikita standing far away from him. He hangs up the phone before Nikita can turn around to see Birkoff.

"We have a check up with Elana." Michael says with a harsh voice and Nikita smiles and turns off to the side. She snaps her fingers and shakes her head to Michael.

"See… there is this thing. Because someone left a card on my desk with two baby names… I started to think.. And because I started to think, I haven't had enough water." Nikita says with a mocking voice, as she explains why she wasn't heading to Medlab. Michael flutters his eyes and stares at Nikita.

"Who would leave you baby names?" Michael asks and Nikita steps back as she thought it was Michael.

"Birkoff said you were the only one in the office today, Michael." Nikita says and Michael shakes his head.

"I want to know the sex of the child, Nikita. WE SHOULD KNOW!" Michael hollers and Nikita looks at Michael with tears in her eyes.

"But I don't!" Nikita cries out and Michael starts to move off.

"Fine… You want to keep it a secret fine!" Michael hollers and Nikita starts out after Michael. She pulls at his arm and stares at him.

"I am going to tell you what I want to name my child… If it is a girl… STORMY CLOUD because that would be the perfect combination of us! And if it is a boy… REX STEEL… because you are so god damn cold not to even think about my thoughts and my beliefs and my dreams when you suggest that it is best to KNOW the sex of the baby!" Nikita screams and steps back towards Birkoff in anger. Michael stands in her way to escape to the office and Walter was still up at the retreat getting over his lost.

"DAMN YOU!" Nikita hollers loudly again and moves down the hallway and Michael looks at Birkoff. He walks over and shakes his head.

"Where is she going? There is nothing down that hallway." Michael says to Birkoff as they hear Nikita slam her hand against the wall. They watch Nikita come back and then turn towards Ayn's office. Birkoff shakes his head and looks at Michael.

"You better watch it. You are going to get the women who look out for Nikita's own good mad at you." Birkoff says with a laugh and Michael frowns, as he knows it is the truth. Michael looks up as he sees Elana walking down the hallway with a frown on her face. Michael drops his head back as he knows that Nikita's little emotional outburst had been viewed by either Operations or Madeline.

"So, tell me. Nikita is thinking about names?" Michael questions Birkoff. He nods his head and smiles.

"Yeah, had me download a lot of baby naming web sites to her computer. Of course I am going to start the baby name poll soon. I have to call Walter too because I think he had a list of a hundred possible names and some where really good." Birkoff says and Michael steps back and taps the computer softly.

"Good to Walter is RINGO." Michael comments as he turns and walks down the hallway. He was going to have to get to work if Nikita was going to spend the day crying.

*

Michael looks up from his desk as Nikita walks down the hallway. He shuts the screen and walks out of the office. Nikita walks slowly to the end of the hallway and drops her head. She is waiting for Michael to catch up to her.

"We have a briefing in three hours." Michael says as he studies Nikita's face. There was the very evidence that he didn't want to see. Nikita had been crying during most of the four hours she had spent in Ayn's office.

"We have to talk about this, Michael." Nikita says as she drops her head and looks at her stomach. She grazes her hand across the stomach and then looks up at Michael.

"I am sorry for making you upset." Michael says and Nikita shakes her head.

"The baby fine. Elana checked me." Nikita says slowly and Michael tilts his head to the side. He feels a tinge of pain that Nikita went ahead with a check up without his presence.

"She knows that she can tell you the sex of the child." Nikita says as she begins to walk again. Michael stands frozen for several moments and then shakes his head. He looks to Nikita and pulls her back to his arms.

"Nikita, we both should know." Michael argues and Nikita drops her head and then sighs sadly.

"I don't want to know. But let's just find out the sex and name the baby in the next day or two." Nikita says and Michael stops and drops his hand from her body.

"What happened Nikita?" Michael questions as he sees the fight in Nikita's eyes gone. It worries him whenever Nikita just drops her beliefs like this without a fight.

"I can't take it. Madeline gave me a book…. Elana was telling me statistical data about name… and Ayn she was telling me what the psychological implications of names were. I can't take another three months of this!" Nikita cries out and Michael shakes his head.

"Nikita, this isn't what you want." Michael says and Nikita starts to move again, walking backwards so that she can look at Michael.

"I can't believe you. First you want to know everything right away. And now, that I have made up my mind, to go along with you…. You decided that it wasn't what I want!" Nikita screams and looks down the hallway at Michael. Michael rubs his nose lightly and looks at Nikita. She was crying again.

"Nikita, don't let them pressure you into this." Michael says and Nikita shakes her head.

"Operations e-mailed me names. Do you want to know what he thinks we should name our child if it is a girl?" Nikita questions as she stops. Michael moves closer to Nikita.

"I don't want to know. I don't want to be influenced by him." Michael says and Nikita blinks her eyes and turns her head to the side.

"He likes Belicia, Shauna, and Aida." Nikita says with a sad voice. Michael closes his eyes. He likes none of them, thankfully.

"And for a boy….. Quentin, Keegan, and Cameron." Nikita says and Michael closes his eyes again. He doesn't like any of those either.

"Nikita, I hate those names." Michael says and Nikita lifts her head and looks at Michael.

"I don't want to deal with him. It's our baby. It should be OUR decision, and if I wanted any help, that I would ask the person for help!" Nikita cries out and she turns again.

"Find out the sex, Michael. We'll chose a name and be over with this." Nikita says and walks away quickly.

*

Michael looks at the Medlab door and stops. He can't do it. There is a pain in his heart as he even thinks about talking to Elana about the sex of the child. Michael's conscience got to him, as he looked at the door. If he would do this, he might never have a good relationship with Nikita for the rest of their life together.

Michael knew Nikita's wishes and now, he could not go against them. Michael turns away from the Medlab door and walks back to Birkoff's station.

"Birkoff, I need some research done." Michael says and the younger man sighs. He looks up at Michael and Michael sees the days of no sleep on Birkoff's face. Michael finds it odd, as Birkoff had several days off, and during that time he had not seen Melissa. Michael knew, Melissa had pouted around Michael's and Nikita's house.

"Michael, I am working the data again on the mission that will be briefing." Birkoff says and Michael leans down and looks into Birkoff's eyes.

"You saw Nikita today. Do you want her to continue to be in that mood?" Michael questions and Birkoff lifts his head and shakes it.

"No. It isn't healthy for her or for you if she stays that way." Birkoff comments and he sees the shock in Michael's face at the implication that Nikita's behavior was healthy for himself. Michael's blank stare falls back down and he looks at Birkoff.

"I didn't leave the note with the names on it." Michael says and Birkoff nods his head and then smiles.

"Sure you weren't" Birkoff sings out in a sarcastic voice. Michael shakes his head and leans back down.

"Do I look like I am lying to you, Birkoff?" Michael questions and Birkoff shakes his head no and leans back up.

"Maybe someone got into the office from a different way." Michael comments and Birkoff rolls his eyes and looks at Michael.

"Better yet, someone took down the security cameras and made me blind!" Birkoff laughs out and Michael stands straight up. Birkoff sighs and looks around.

"I will see what I can do. Who should I look at for doing this? Madeline?" Birkoff asks and Michael shakes his head.

"She isn't direct. If she really thought that the baby should have a name, she would have made Nikita to see that way with a conversation. This is too direct." Michael says and rubs his hands together. He had been thinking about the possibility of who did this, and it made his stomach sick.

"You are thinking that this is Operations?" Birkoff questions and Michael nods his head. He looks around to find that no other operatives are about.

"It would give him a reason to communicate with Nikita." Michael states and Birkoff whistles lowly. He looks back to his computer and then to Michael.

"But if it was him, he might have sent in another operative to do the dirty work." Birkoff comments and Michael slaps Birkoff's shoulder.

"That is why I have come to you. You can find out if he had anything to do with anything at all. I have my faith in you." Michael says and he turns and walks away. Michael starts to worry about the mission that is upcoming. It has been tightly sealed and no information has come to Michael or Nikita, and the sounds of it, didn't sound right to Michael.

*

Nikita lifts the phone up and dials the number slowly. She almost feels guilty for doing so, but she pushes those feelings away. She knew that Michael had gone off to Medlab to find out the sex of the baby. Soon, she would know if it was boy or a girl, but she wanted to have some sort of advantage. She wanted to know some names that she liked.

"Hello. Outpost Store." Walter's voice announces shakily on the other end. Nikita smiles and is happy to hear his voice. At least he was now functioning.

"Hello, Walter." Nikita says and she hears a gasp of happiness.

"Sugar! You are so sweet to my ears! I have been alone all day!" Walter cries out and Nikita smiles and opens up the computer screen.

"So, do you need something sugar?" Walter asks and Nikita smiles.

"I know Birkoff called you. I am looking for baby names." Nikita says and Walter laughs.

"Oh… and I heard that Michael thinks I think that Ringo is a good name. Do not name your child RINGO!" Walter cries out and Nikita laughs.

"Actually, I think that Cuba is a good name… and a girl. Misty… or Sunshine!" Walter says and Nikita laughs and drops her head. Walter could always make her happy.

"I do want a normal name. I just find it hard." Nikita comments as she hears Walter opening a soda pop. Nikita leans back in her chair.

"Have you thought about French names? I am sure that Michael is going to be relying upon a lot of them." Walter says and Nikita shakes her head. She had even forgot to think about what Michael might like.

"I didn't think about it that way." Nikita says and she starts to push on some buttons.

"You mean like Dominique?" Nikita questions and she hears Walter immediately laughing.

"Sugar, you made the Mt. Dew come out my nose! Please, not Dominique. All I see with that name is leather!" Walter cries out in laughter and Nikita sighs. She felt the same way.

"Well, Forget Chantal… it sounds like perfume." Nikita says as she looks at the screen and jots a few names down.

"How about Isabelle or Genevieve?" Walter questions and Nikita nods her head as she writes them down.

"They are all right." Nikita comments and she drops her head and looks at the boy's names.

"I will not name my baby Jean if it is a boy! Or Delano!" Nikita exclaims and Walter laughs. In the background from Walter's line, Nikita can hear the bell ringing, proclaiming that the door had been opened to the store.

"Hey, sugar, I got customers. Can I call you back?" Walter questions and Nikita looks at the clock.

"Sure. I have a briefing in least than three hours though." Nikita comments as she continues to look at the screen, surprised to find herself smiling while looking for a name without Michael.

"My customers never stay that long!" Walter exclaims as he hangs up the phone. Nikita smiles and looks at the screen. Maybe it was good to look at the French names, but she wanted to explore other names. She closes that French name website down and the screen flashes.

DIAMANTA --- Like many diamonds
EAMON --- blessed protection

*

Nikita steps out of the office and looks to Birkoff's station. He looks busy, but Nikita was worried. Someone in Section One was using her computer now to send her messages. She had to put an end to this.

"Birkoff. There is something on my computer." Nikita says loudly and Birkoff lifts his head and shakes it. He had enough troubles trying to solve the riddle that Michael had given him and work on the Intel for the pending briefing.

"There should always be something on you computer." Birkoff comments and he looks at Nikita. The scowl tells Birkoff to pick his body up out of his chair and to go find out what Nikita was specifically talking about. As Birkoff stood up, Nikita turned and walked back to the office.

Birkoff walks in and looks at the screen and frowns at the names. They were pretty bad.

"Boy, this person doesn't know a good name." Birkoff says and Nikita looks at Birkoff and sighs.

"Maybe they are related to the people than named you Seymour!" Nikita rudely comments as Birkoff works at the computer. He rolls his eyes and pushes the comment off as being just a rude comment because she was moody from the hormonal changes.

"I would think that if you and Michael worked together you would find a perfect name." Birkoff says happily, trying to give Nikita a positive outlook on the situation.

"He wants to know what the child is, so be it. I am going to have a name ready." Nikita comments sharply and Birkoff shakes his head. It was never an easy day when Nikita and Michael were having difficulties communicating.

"So, have you thought of any names?" Birkoff questions as he continues to work at the computer. Nikita paces behind him and sighs softly.

"Some. Walter is helping me." Nikita comments as she rolls her head from side to side. "He is to be calling me back soon."

"Well, someone did a good job. But… It's gone now." Birkoff pronounces and Nikita looks at him and places her hand on her hip.

"This won't happen again, will it?" Nikita questions and Birkoff shrugs his shoulders and walks out of the office.

Nikita turns to pull up the websites again, and the screen flashes.

CALIDA--- Warm and Loving
FINIAN--- Fair

Birkoff hears Nikita's scream as he sits back down at his computer. He shakes his head as he knows that the computer will continue to flash names until he can destroy the internal program, that he was going to have to take twenty hours to find somewhere in the mess of the Section One mainframe. There were only two people who would do that, Madeline and Operations.

"Have you found anything?" Michael's voice echoes out from behind Birkoff. He shakes his head, as now he knows his day is officially really bad.

"You know that Section One has gone over several remodels through the years, and that your office was fitted from an old training area about twenty years ago, when this main floor was moved down a couple levels." Birkoff states and Michael looks to the side and back at Birkoff.

"No. It wasn't in my Section One history course. Why is this important?" Michael questions and Birkoff rolls his eyes. He could classify this day as SUCKING!

*

"Well, Michael, there is a secret door in your office." Birkoff whispers and Michael closes his eyes before he turns to stare at Birkoff intensely.

"And what do you mean by that?" Michael questions and Birkoff looks around the area before continuing this conversation.

"Ok. There is a ventilation shaft that we don't use anymore. But if someone really wanted to get into your office, it could easily be used." Birkoff replies and Michael shakes his head in disappointment. He can't believe that all this time that he thought that the office was secure, it really wasn't.

"Where is this secret door?" Michael demands and Birkoff looks around. He knew that Nikita was now dealing with the computer problem, and to have Michael storming into the office to search for this secret door.

"It's in the bathroom… and I know that it has been used." Birkoff replies quickly, which naturally keeps Michael glued to Birkoff's words. Birkoff pulls up the screen and shows Michael.

"This is the entry point of the old shaft. Vertio has only been with Section One for two years. He should now know about it. I barely found it." Birkoff says in sharp whispers. Michael drops back and looks around. He didn't like the further implications of what Birkoff had found out.

"So he was paid off by Operations." Michael states and Birkoff starts to shakes his head no. Birkoff types quickly as he pulls up the Section One accounts.

"He hasn't received any payment for services." Birkoff says and Michael rubs his chin lightly, and the walks around to Birkoff's chair to look at the computer.

"Has he been anywhere near Madeline?" Michael questions and Birkoff lifts an eyebrow.

"Now, what would Madeline have that Vertio would want?" Birkoff questions and Michael looks at Birkoff's naïve little question.

"Come, Birkoff. You have heard about Madeline's well known past." Michael says and Birkoff shakes his head and looks at the screen. Michael sees the red color flooding Birkoff's cheeks.

"I am sure you even came across video of the events. Madeline liked to record that stuff." Michael says in a deep whisper and Birkoff shakes his head and looks at Michael.

"All I ever ran into was Madeline and Operations." Birkoff blurts out quickly and Michael blinks his eyes as Birkoff shakes his head as he checks the files.

"No. Vertio hasn't been in contact with Madeline since his last psychological review sixteen months ago." Birkoff replies and Michael looks up to the glass office above them.

"Then I know who it is." Michael says as he starts to move around. Birkoff holds his comments until Michael starts to get the look of the stalker that Birkoff well knew.

"Michael, he is trying to help you and Nikita." Birkoff says, stating his opinions on the issue. He had actually been worried that Michael and Nikita were going to be the kind of parents that didn't name their child for months after it was born.

"If he wanted to help us, he would leave Nikita alone." Michael states as he rubs his hands together and turns to Birkoff.

"Where is he?" Michael questions and Birkoff shakes his head. He wasn't going to give Michael that information.

"I don't know." Birkoff lies and Michael turns and looks around the area.

"I will find him, and discuss this with him." Michael states and Birkoff shrugs his shoulders and watches Michael storm off. Birkoff was glad that Michael had yet to find out about the computer program that Operations had the Section mainframe attach to Nikita's computer. Michael would be out for blood.

*

Nikita looks away from the computer and finally shuts it down. She is disgusted that someone could do this to her. She thought all of Section One knew of her wishes, not to know the sex of the child, and now, this was causing problems. Nikita sat down on the couch and started to flip through the pages of the book.

Nikita is about to actually close her eyes as the stress was building a headache and that she was just not the same woman she was a month ago. That was before the phone rang, and Nikita jumps up to pick it up.

"Hello?" Nikita asks and waits. It could have been Michael ready to exclaim that they were having a girl, but if Michael was exclaiming, it was because they were having a son.

"Hey, Sugar. What's up? Was I too long?" Walter says and Nikita smiles as she takes the phone back to the couch and picks up the book.

"No." Nikita comments and Walter laughs softly. Nikita leans against the arm of the couch and places the book on the bulge of her stomach. Nikita rubs the stomach softly and flips through the pages.

"Did you find anymore good websites?" Walter questions and Nikita closes her eyes out of hate and disgust.

"No. Someone has been playing with my computer so it flashes this damn idiotic, sick, children's names!" Nikita explains and Walter sighs. He was so sick of the Section big wigs playing with Nikita. Someone was going to teach Operations a lesson or two on what it really meant to be a father.

"So, we are off the baby name hunt?" Walter questions and Nikita flips through the pages and smiles softly.

"Myrna, soft and gentle." Nikita reads out and sighs. It was a pretty name. She tilted her head to the side and could almost hear Michael saying the name out loud.

"Do you really want a child that is soft and gentle?" Walter questions and Nikita laughs. That description would never do. Both Michael and Nikita were very strong individuals.

"No… what about Nadia?" Nikita questions and she waits for Walter's response.

"Doesn't that mean hope?" Walter asks and Nikita flips the page quickly. She didn't want to get into a conversation about that name.

"Dahlia…. No… Keely… No… Sonya…. It symbolizes wisdom." Nikita comments and Walter laughs quickly. She had a lot of names there.

"I like the name Sonya." Walter says and Nikita smiles. It wasn't what she really wanted, but it was something to give Michael to think about. Nikita smiles and looks at her list. There were ten names; most of them just to piss Michael off.

"Ok.. Boys…" Nikita says and she could hear Walter smiling on the other end of the line.

"Alan… It means rock and noble." Nikita says and she frowns. She never knew a Alan that ended up that way.

"No…Evan… Young Warrior." Nikita quotes out and Walter laughs.

"What happens when he becomes an old warrior. Does he have to change his name?" Walter laughs and Nikita laughs with him. It was a cute point, and for several seconds, Nikita doesn't even have her headache.

"What does the name Xavier mean?" Walter asks and Nikita flips to the back of the book and shakes her head.

"Bright." Nikita says and laughs. She closes the book and then opens the book. She points her finger and looks down. "Gunnar… battle army"

"That sounds like you and Michael." Walter comments as the door to the store opens up again and he sighs.

"Sugar, I haven't had this much business all week." Walter comments and Nikita smiles.

"Well, thanks for your help. I will keep you posted." Nikita says and hangs up, not wanting to bother Walter anymore than she had. She looks down at her names and lists Gunnar for the fun of it.

*

The door unexpectantly slides open and Operations lifts his head. He drops his hands to squash out his cigar as he looks at Michael. Michael walks further into the glass office and stares at Operations.

"Michael, our briefing isn't for another hour and a half." Operations states and he waits. Operations can see the anger on Michael's face and he looks at the young man again.

"Why are you here?" Operations sternly demands and Michael blinks his eyes and looks out towards the Section One outside of the glass.

"Birkoff is moving his computer." Michael states and Operations stands up and look at Michael and the action below.

"Why can't you leave Nikita alone?" Michael questions as he stares at Birkoff who briefly looks up at Michael and then goes back to the job of protecting the glass.

"I don't know what you are talking about, Michael." Operations states and Michael turns to stare at the man that his entire heart hated at this point.

"You sent someone in to leave baby names in our office." Michael states and Operations freezes. He knows that he is caught, and to lie about it any further, would be idiotic.

"Yes. I think it is best that you and Nikita start to think about such issues." Operations states and Michael looks at Operations. Michael moves slowly closer to Operations.

"You want us to know what the sex is. You want to know the name. This is not about Nikita's well being. You were using us against each other to get what you want." Michael says methodically and calmly.

"I think it is best that for a couple like you and Nikita to know all of this. To be prepared." Operations states and Michael looks back.

"To place Nikita into a state of hating me and so that once Nikita gives birth, we can immediately go back into the field." Michael states angrily, but still with an air of calmness.

"Don't give me the lecture, Michael. Nikita will have time off after she gives birth." Operations states and Michael looks back over the world of Section One before he turns back to Operations red face.

"After? So she will be having this child in the field, right?" Michael questions and Operations rolls his eyes.

"She will not have this child while on a mission. That is why we are monitoring her so closely." Operations states in a voice that is the most condescending that Michael has heard from Operations in a long time.

"Leave alone. We can do all of this without you." Michael states and Operations shakes his head defiantly.

"I can't. I won't. I know what is best for my daughter!" Operations bellows and Michael steps back in order to move him physically away from Operations before his anger boils over.

"If you knew what was best, you would stop giving her more stress. Most of the operatives in Section One that have children have STRESS-RELATED COMPLICATIONS! Do you want this to happen?" Michael hollers and stares at Operations as the door behind them opens.

"Enough, Michael. I will handle this." Madeline says and Michael turns and looks at Madeline.

"If you don't mind Madeline, this is my wife and my child we are talking about." Michael states rudely and Madeline moves between the two men.

"Yes, I do mind. Now go to Nikita." Madeline states and Michael turns away, leaving Operations to Madeline. She waits until the door closes and looks at Operations.

"You are going to stop this." Madeline states and Operations shakes his head as he moves back to his desk.

"I am doing nothing." Operations says back and Madeline softly laughs.

"You are. Birkoff has been searching the mainframe for the computer program. I don't miss things like that." Madeline says firmly and Operations turns and shakes his head.

"I want Nikita to be ready for this." Operations states and Madeline laughs softly.

"No one is ever ready to be a mother or a father. Even the best-laid plans don't work out. Nikita needs this to be done the way she feels it should be." Madeline says and Operations drops his head.

"Cease, or I will take drastic measures." Madeline says and turns out of the office.

*

Michael walks into the office and Nikita looks at the sheet of paper that she is holding. Nikita slowly sets the sheet of paper on her stomach and looks up to Michael.

"So?" Nikita chokes out and Michael leans his head to the side and shuts the door. He moves slowly to Nikita and kneels down by her body on the couch.

"I didn't find out." Michael says as he touches Nikita's cheek and feels the tears roll out of her eyes. "I want to wait. But we can start thinking about names." Michael says and Nikita smiles broadly.

"Thank you." Nikita says and Michael leans up and kisses each of Nikita's eyes softly and then her lips.

"I should have thought about how much this all means to you. I was insensitive." Michael says and Nikita looks to the sheet and hands it to Michael.

"What is this?" Michael asks as he stands up and sits down on the couch. Nikita moves quickly to place her head down on Michael's lap so that she can look at him.

"Some names I like. I want to hear what you like." Nikita says and Michael smiles as he bends down to kiss Nikita's tender lips.

"Let me see…" Michael starts out slowly and he smiles.

"Sonya, Isabelle, Trisha, Adora, and Rainbow." Michael says and he wrinkles up his nose.

"Rainbow?" Michael questions and Nikita nods her head and smiles.

"I like it. Because it's happy." Nikita says and Michael laughs and looks at Nikita. He rubs her stomach softly and shakes his head.

"Ok, I hate Adora, and for some odd reason… Rainbow is in the running." Michael says as he pulls up the pen from the end table and scratches out Adora.

"What about names you like?" Nikita asks and Michael thinks for a moment. Nikita was almost afraid that Michael wouldn't have any for the girls.

"I always liked the name Joline." Michael states and Nikita smiles.

"Joline. I like that." Nikita says and Michael adds the name to the list. Nikita rubs her stomach lightly and takes Michael's hand and holds it.

"Can we think about? I don't want to absolutely choose now." Nikita says and Michael takes Nikita's hand that is tangled up with his and kisses.

"Of course… On to the boys." Michael says with a laugh.

"Evan, Gunnar, Randal, Xavier, Beau, and Roy." Michael says and starts to laugh.

"Gunnar? Beau? ROY?" Michael questions and Nikita laughs softly.

"The name Roy is growing on me. It seems so much like you." Nikita says and she tilts her head and Michael does not scratch out Roy, but does scratch out Beau.

"I knew you would do that. I put it there to make you laugh." Nikita states and Michael kisses Nikita's forehead.

"Ok. I have a few to add. Javier, Coleman, and Rene." Michael says and Nikita nods her head. She did not want to name her child Rene, because of the deep roots of emotion that it tied to Michael's past, but for now it would stay there.

"See, we narrowed it down!" Nikita laughs and Michael nods his head and looks at Nikita's stomach.

"No kicks yet?" Michael asks and Nikita shakes her head.

"Nope, so you can't even ask the baby what it wants to be named!" Nikita laughs out and Michael smiles and holds Nikita in the moments of happiness that they have until they have to go to the briefing.
