Julie wraps inside a heavy flannel blanket as she sits down on a lopsided wooden chair. She huddles her face down near the blanket, and barely her eyes are out for underneath the giant red hat she wears. The rocking back and forth that Julie does was at first, disturbing to Julie, but now, if she doesn't rock back and forth, it disturbs her. She glances at the shelf of supplies, and can almost hear a clock ticking away as she does. There has been no meat in weeks, and the most of the canned food has be depleted, except for the four cans of SPAM, which Julie doesn't count as meat. There are a few boxes of raisins, the food that Julie truly hates. She stands up again, and moves to the radio. It might as well be a century old, most of the time she can barely make out what is being said. She tries again to contain Section, about the next shipment of supplies. Julie's face appears more white as she sits down again, and the realization that Section probably isn't going to send her another shipment sets in. "I didn't want to hurt, Mylo." Julie mutters to herself. Except for the constant static on the radio, all of the noise that Julie hears has to be produced by her. She glances to the other corner of the little cabin which Madeline and Nikita had referred to as a substation, and sees her fuel for the heater running out. Julie shakes her head. She would rather die being shot and abused for years instead of this way. "Everything about Section is a test." Nikita's words echo in Julie's ears. She looks at the blinking radar and is relieve to see that for now, no new storms have appeared. Maybe in the morning she would search for the supplies, or maybe she would search for any other humans in the area. Julie sits back down and sets the clock for an hour. Sleep for Julie is very rare, but she has also come to realize that at this extreme cold climate, no sleep is better than a lot of sleep. She lays down and prays not to dream about the polar bear, whom chased her away from her last shipment. OR the penquins that had made their home outside the cabin for several days in a row. But, mostly, she prayed not to dream of Mylo. Those dreams were the worst. ************ Julie pins the flannel blanket around all of her clothing. She moves like she is made of marshmellows. Instantly, the theme from Ghostbusters flashes in her head. She even hums it. "Who ya gonna call?... Ghostbusters..." Julie sings outloud, through the several scarfs. She looks at the duffel bag, in which she packed all the things she would need and could use. Julie tries to push the image of the Marshmellow guy in Ghostbusters being blown up into marshmellow goop as she opens the door, and the bone-chilling wind hits her face. She forges ahead, looking for the last spot that damn polar bear was at. * About a half hour later, Julie bends down, and digs at the blue material under the snow. Slowly a bag immerges, and Julie looks within. Most of the bag was Nikita being a smart alec, but Nikita had that ability. Julie throws away the pleasure devices, but keeps the batteries from them. She pulls the several bars of chocolate, and add them to the bag she had already packed. She looks around for the polar bear, and head north, the direction of the ocean. * "Ice jam, sir." the sailor reports to the captain. He nods his head. He looks at the three houses nearby and smiles. "I can't wait for these damn scientist decide to leave this area. We could be jammed for a week or more." The captain mumbles to himself. He motions for his second mate to come towards him. "Send some of the men back to those houses. Although, I doubt we will find that husband alive, we might be able to give him a proper burial, or as much as possible." the captain says. The second mate salutes and walks off the bridge. The captain walks to his desk and pushes the button on the bottom right hand drawer twice. ************ Julie trudges through the knee deep fresh snow. It is a change in terrain that Julie notices instantly. Since she first set out, the snow was ice packed, but this was fresh. She routinely eats a small piece of chocolate, as she continues to walk. She looks infront of her, but there is nothing but the white snow, and the blue sky. She keeps a look out for the polar bear, but Julie is standing in the fields of white by herself. Suddenly, she stumbles ahead. Julie jumps up and starts to shake off the snow, before it gets to deep into her clothing. She looks back, wondering what had tripped her up. Her footsteps are easily seen, and Julie sees something black in the hole. Julie leans in and starts to dig. "AWWWW!" Julie screams as she wipes off the snow on a greenish white face. She falls backward into the snow. Frozen to death... the way she fears to die. She instantly takes off. If there was a dead man here, maybe there were some living ones close by. The snow quickly tires Julie's franic and panic driven run. She heaves to draw in air to supply her body. She stops and looks up at the sky and pulls down two scarfs and takes in the precious air. Sweat beads all within her clothing, and Julie is quite warm. She knows better, and continues on, at a slower pace. * The captain looks at the file on his desk. The girl was quite lovely. To bad she had messed around with the wrong people. The captain smiles as he thinks back to his experience with Nikita. She was a very lovely woman, but most people in Section realized that Nikita was the most like Madeline. "Oh, Julie, you screwed with the wrong women." The captain says with a soft smile on his face. He stands up and walks around his quarters. "Jeremine... you have one of the best jobs in Section!" he thinks to himself. Jeremine had showed an interest in sailing even before Section, but Section used this interest. He was easily placed on shipment boats, like this current one, or Coast Guard ships, like the one that had picked up Michael and Nikita, or even other Naval Ships. He had the pleasure of rarely having to do the Section dirty work, and most of the time, his only job was to pick up the operatives and help continue their covers until they were transported elsewhere. "Oh, Julie, Julie... lessons are yet to come." Jeremine says with a bright smile. ************ Julie looked up at the sky, noticing the dwelling light. She pulled around her bag, and grabbed the flashlight to be prepared for the soon to come night. The daylight was so short in Antartica, and Julie had always loved the daylight so much. Julie could pick out eight things that made Madeline and Nikita send her here, of all places. They were composing her nervous breakdown, which she actually had about the second week in that cabin. The walls felt like they were shaking, going to tumble down on her. The wind constantly howled, and Julie had never quite gotten use to it. Julie pauses for a second, and can almost feel the snow behind her move. She slowly moves her eyes to the side, but can not see anything. She slowly turns and is almost nose to nose with the polar bear. "s---!" Julie mutters as she lets the flashlight drop from her hand. She has no time to reach for the rifle that is strapped onto her shoulder. All Julie has time for is to start to step back and to close her eyes tightly. The paws of the polar bear whip Julie away from it, leaving slashes in her winter gear. Julie tries to gather enough air to stand back up, and she sees the bear, running towards her. It starts to leap, and Julie rolls to the side. She shuts her eyes, and they don't open until she feels the thud in the snow beneath her. The polar bear is struggling the effects of the tranq. dart, but Julie rolls her head to see the origin of the dart. Before she can see a face, darkness surrounds Julie's world. * "A polar bear was attacking a woman. We have no idea what she was doing her by herself. What should we do sir?" the second mate was reporting to Jeremine. "Bring her aboard." Jeremine orders. "Sir, we have no medical personal." The second mate points out. "We have me. That is enough. Bring her aboard. Immediately." Jeremine says and walks back to his quarters. Jeremine sits down at this desk and establishes the secure link with Section. Madeline and Nikita were going to love this one. Rarely did Jeremine ever think about how Mylo would think about these things. It was easier to picture Nikita and Madeline being the victims of Julie. Of course Julie had ruined Nikita's wedding day, but Operations had done the same, and he has only been sent to Moscow. Yet, as he typed his new intel report, Jeremine found himself wondering about Mylo. He also wondered what kind of game Madeline and Nikita were playing with him. ************ Julie cracks her chapped lips and her eyes flutter open softly. Immediately, Julie registers the extreme warmth she feels, and then she feels the pain throughout her body. She turns her head from the plain ceiling, and soon sees one circle window, trying to be five. "Stay still, miss." Jeremine says as he moves over to the now conscious Julie. He gives Julie some water to sip, following the orders from above. To help regain health, and then to turn her over to the men in the crew. "The... bear..." Julie moans and Jeremine pats her shoulder. "One of my men hit him with a tranq. dart. He is probably up and about by now." Jeremine says softly. He looks at the bandage on her forearm, which will need changed again. "What is your name?" Jeremine asks as he begins to unwrap the dressing. "Julie." Julie moans out as she winces in pain. Jeremine starts to wash the wound out with alcohol. "Let me give you something for the pain." Jeremine says, moving towards the black bag. Julie does place a hand up. "No. I'm fine." Julie says. Jeremine hides a smile within himself, score one for Julie. "What were you doing out there by yourself?" Jeremine asks as he starts to wrap the arm up again. He looks at Julie's eyes, which still seem to be frozen by the cold. "I was doing research with my husband... he died several days ago." Julie says, pulling some tears out from her eyes. Jeremine wants to yell, what about Mylo, but continues to focus on the bandage. "How did he die?" Jeremine questions as he pulls his hands up from the bandage. Julie touches the forearm and places it back against her side. "A polar bear attack." Julie says and turns her head. Jeremine nods his head and walks out of the room. This girl was scoring high so far in his book, but he knew of Madeline's and Nikita's opinion and therefore judgement on Julie. * "We will be heading out to sea." Jeremine explains to Julie as she sits up in the bed. Five days after the attack, and Jeremine was pleased to report that Julie was almost in perfect health, and only several weeks of decent food would solve the other health problem. "Do I have to go back onland?" Julie asks with wide-opened eyes. Jeremine smiles. "No. I do have things that you can do around the boat to profile your board and food." Jeremine announces. "My men... they rarely see a woman..." "Oh, I see." Julie says with some hesitation in her voice. Julie drops her head and then pulls a huge smile out for Jeremine. "Will you be joining your men?" "No, miss. I have my wife at the port in four weeks, and I love her." Jeremine says and walks out. He leans against the wall and rolls his eyes. ************ Mylo enters Madeline's office and is not surprized by the presense of Nikita, who is already sitting down. Mylo walks over and takes the seat next to Nikita. Madeline looks at Nikita and then Mylo. "Julie has abandoned the substation." Madeline says, and Mylo barely moves in his chair. "Does that mean that she is dead?" Mylo asks coldly. He moves from Madeline's glance, which he could never get any information out of, to Nikita's who, unfortunately, was taking too many lessons from Madeline. "No. She was attacked by a polar bear and therefore rescued by a Section operative." Nikita answers and Mylo closes his eyes and shakes his head. "Of course, we planned this." Madeline informs Mylo and he feels like he wants to spit on Madeline. He stands up and moves away from the two. "Why play games? I want her to die!" Mylo says. Nikita looks at Madeline and then back to Mylo. "She is now on a supply ship, with an all male crew... our operative has not told her of his Section status." Nikita says and Mylo raises an eyebrow. "What do we do now, Mylo?" Madeline asks Mylo, and he moves back to his seat. He tries to think as an operative would, but the emotions cloud his thoughts. "Throw her overboard and let the sharks fight over her bitter body." Mylo finally hisses out. Nikita shakes her head. "Mylo, don't you want her to suffer as long as you are suffering? She has not revealed anything about Section, yet." Nikita says softly. Mylo stares at Nikita with cold eyes. "But of course, she has taken no action to try to contact Section of her abandonment of the substation. Which basically means, she is escaping." Madeline finishes. Mylo again stands and paces. Nikita looks at Madeline and then looks to the wall. "If death is all you are looking for, that can and will be done." Nikita says as she walks over to and puts two hands on Mylo's shoulders. "If you want to strip her of all human contact, that will be done.... If you want to force extreme human contact, that will be done... It is your choice." Nikita says slowly. "I want her to think about what she did to me constantly.... to suffer... to feel the pain I do.... to regret what she did." Mylo says as he pulls away from Nikita's hands. "Will you trust me and Nikita do plan this?" Madeline asks as she taps the desk, bringing Mylo's attention to her. "You are the master manipulator.. and Nikita is your protege.... I don't see how I couldn't trust you." Mylo says walking out of the office. Nikita watches the door close, and then looks at Madeline. "I will contact Jeremine." Nikita says and then leaves herself. * "Julie?" Jeremine says walking into the room and throws the crewman off of the moaning lady. "I was doing my job, Jeremine... unless it is your turn." Julie says as she snakes a hand around Jeremine's neck. "Mylo wouldn't like that, now, would he?" Jeremine says as he throws Julie her nightgown. Her eyes widen in disbelief. "Don't ever think that Section gave you the easiest way to escape... Madeline, Nikita, and Mylo are conducting your punishment.... and I tend to like it." Jeremine says as he pulls the lady by her arm to the closet. "So close to human contact, but yet so far away... I suggest you think about what you did..." Jeremine says as he closes the door and leaves Julie in complete darkness.
