Michael walked up to his house. Nikita's rejection of his invitation to dinner had hurt and shown him how much she was falling for Jurgen. He had tried to dissuade her from him, knowing that if they got too close that Section would use her. He didn't want that.

He checked his mail only because Kathryn should be writing back soon. He hoped that her mission would get over soon, he missed her. Inside the box was a medium sized yellow envelope. There was no names on it and only his address written in the middle, in Kathryn's handwriting. He walked in to his living room and sat down on the couch. He opened the envelope and a CD fell out. It had a note rubber banded to it.

Hey Michael---Just got this CD and thought you would like it. --Kathryn

He looked at the CD, The Philosopher Kings, it said. He walked over to the CD player, Kathryn wouldn't have sent him anything that he definitely wouldn't like. As it started to play he looked at cover, it looked a little familiar, but he didn't know it. He picked up the envelope again and pulled out Kathryn's letter. He really wasn't listing to the music, it was just background noise. When he was almost done with the letter one of the songs caught his attention.

Lately his dream were about Nikita turning Jurgen down and coming to him. His nightmares were the other way around, he lost her to Jurgen.

He thought of all the cold nights over the pass three year, when he couldn't sleep because of her image shimmering under his eyelids. All the nights when all he wanted was her next to him.

The boat, making love to her all night. Her body merging with his, to become one. The images flashed though his mind. They were replaced with the possibility that she would do the same with Jurgen.

Besides Kathryn she was the only good thing in his life. And she did keep him grounded, he'd told her that much on the boat. About needing her, and how after he saw that she wasn't dead that she brought him back. After she came back, he had plans for them. They would act like normal until no one was paying attention to them. Then starting slowly he would open up to her. Tell her all the things that she wanted to know, and he would promise not to lie to her when they were together. He couldn't promise never to lie, there would always be mission were in might be unavoidable. But they would be together. That was all impossible now. Everything was messed up now. She didn't want him, she wanted Jurgen.

As the end of the song played his phone rang. “Yes.” he answered it. He listened for a moment “ Of course.” he said and hung up. The decision was made, they were going to use Nikita to get Jurgen. He had to go to Madeline's office tomorrow to make a report on how close they were.

He closed his eyes and put his head on the back of the couch, as the last notes of the song faded away.
