Nikita Wolfe sat on the trunk of her car and stared at her neighborhood. She sighed as the sun’s rays baked her head. It was Saturday and the first weekend since school had started. She was bored out of her mind. Her father had left on an emergency and she was home at a loss for something to do.

A moving van caught her attention. She craned her neck and saw it pull in to the drive way across the street. Her brow furrowed in curiosity when she saw a black Range Rover and a red Mercedes park on the side of the road. A woman and two small children got out of the Benz while a younger guy emerged from the Rover.

Her mouth fell open as she saw him. He was gorgeous. His reddish brown hair was short and wavy. His jeans fit him in all the right places while hanging from his hips. His white shirt clung over firm muscles like a second skin.

She smiled as she saw the young boy, who had gotten out of the Benz, run towards the guy at full speed. Her smile widened as she saw the mystery man pick him up, swinging him around and then hugged him tightly. She heard the boys laughter echo in the street as he kissed the guy’s cheek. The guy walked to the woman kissing her on the cheek and picked up the young girl. They walked into the house with impatient mover’s in their wake.

Nikita looked at the house and hopped off her car. Well, since I am the first to spot them, let me be the first to welcome them to the neighborhood, she thought to herself. As she crossed the street and proceeded to walk to the house.

************

Nikita looked around as she knocked on the door. She was suddenly nervous. She smiled as the door opened. She was greeted by a beautiful woman with a faint bruise marring her perfect features.

“Hello, can I help you?” The woman asked curiously.

“Um, my name is Nikita. I live in the house across the street. It’s kind of tradition around her to greet the newbies that come to live here, to make them feel at home here. So let me be the first to say welcome to the neighborhood.” Nikita said holding out her hand.

“Pleasure to meet you, Nikita. I’m Madeleine Sand. Thank you for the welcome.” Madeleine replied shaking the young girl’s hand.

“No problem, it’s my pleasure.” Nikita moved aside as the movers began unloading the small truck. “Do you need any help?”

Actually, I was wondering if you could recommend restaurant and a great place to get ice cream?” Madeleine asked as she let Nikita in.

“Well, Mrs. Sand, you are in luck. I just happen to know a great place to get food and ice cream.” Nikita said smiling. ”My father and I are going out to eat tonight, you and your family are welcome to join us. That way you’ll be saved from the ‘welcome’ desserts. As for the ice cream we could do that after dinner.”

“Are you sure your father won’t mind?” Madeleine asked as two flashes breezed past her.

“Nah. He’s a police officer. He likes to meet everyone in the neighborhood to reassure them.” Nikita responded as the two flashes ran back to where they came from.

“Those are the little ones of the house, Monique and Adam. My son, Michael, is probably playing some game with them.” Madeleine said as she laughed.

“Maman, have you seen Adam and Monique?” A soft voice called from the hallway.

“Yes, why?”

“Because they were playing with the hose and I’m going to get them.” The voice said as he made his way to his mother.

“Michel!” Madeleine exclaimed.

“I was helping the movers and I turn away for a second then this happened.” Michael glanced at Nikita. His eyes became a soft green as he smiled at her. “Hi, I’m Michael.”

“Hi, Nikita, nice to meet you, Michael.” She said to him smiling at his water logged appearance.

“Excuse me please. Adam! Monique!” He called following their giggles. Their laughter became hysterical guffaws as they screamed for Michael to stop tickling them.

“I better go stop the chaos.” Madeleine said shaking her head. “Okay, I’ll see you tonight around six o’clock?”

“That would be perfect, Mrs. Sand. See you then. Tell Michael I said good bye.” Nikita said as she went to out the door. “Goodbye.”

“Good bye and thank you, Nikita” Madeleine said.

“No problem Mrs. Sand” Nikita said walking out waving goodbye to her new neighbor.

************

Nikita looked at the door as her father walked in. She smiled as he sat next to her on the couch. She leaned on him as they watched television together.

“How was work, Pop?” Nikita asked softly.

“You have been watching Kung Fu again haven’t you? It was okay.” He replied hugging her.

“Yeah, they had this marathon and that guy that plays Peter Caine has a nice bod. How could I resist.” She said smiling.

“How was your day?”

“Boring, until I met our new neighbors. I invited them to come to dinner. They should have a peaceful night not one horded by Lisa the shark.” Nikita said playing with his tie.

“Nikki, be nice. Let me go wash up and then we will head out.” Paul said getting up and walked up the stairs.

****

Nikita knocked on the door . She smiled as Monique opened the door. The little girl smiled as she saw Nikita there.

“Maman, it’s Nikita.” She left the door open and ran to the living room.

“Come in.” Michael said appearing in front of the door. He smiled warmly a Nikita and extended his hand to her father. “Michael Samuelle.”

“Paul Wolfe. Nice to meet you Michael.” Paul said shaking the boys hand.

“Pleasure, please come in. Maman is almost ready and Adam is giving me a little trouble.” The words no more then left Michael's mouth when they heard a child yell.

“I don’t want dinner. I want ice cream!”

“Excuse me I have to go take care of this little problem. The living room is to the right.” Michael said as he walked to the foot of the stairs. “Adam Rene¢!”

The rest of the conversation was lost to them as Paul and Nikita made their way to the living room. Madeleine walked in from the kitchen looking a bit frazzled. She smiled to Nikita and Paul.

“I’m sorry we are running a little bit late.” She said looking very apologetic.

“Dad, this is Madeleine Sand. Mrs. Sand, this is my dad Paul Wolfe.” Nikita introduced them with a smile.

“Pleasure to meet you Madeleine. Don’t worry about being late.” Paul said shaking her hand. “So how do you like the neighborhood so far?”

“It’s perfect. Thank you for asking.”

Before they could say anything Adam ran into the room giggling as Michael walked in the room calmly. He sighed as Adam crawled beneath the end table.

“Adam, please, come out from under there. I am losing my patience.” Michael said crouching to see Adam.

“I want ice cream.” came the whimper from underneath the table.

“Adam with the way you are behaving I don’t think ice cream is an option.” Michael said firmly.

“I’m sorry, Daddy.” Adam said tears running down his cheeks.

“It’s okay, mon petit. Let’s just get ready for dinner. You won’t get ice cream but if you behave I might give you a bite of my desert.” Michael said as Adam got out from under the table.

“Okay. I’m sorry I wasn’t being a good boy. “ Adam said hugging Michael tightly.

“No worries.” he said picking up Adam. He looked at Paul and Nikita and smiled. This is my son Adam. Adam do you remember Nikita. That is her dad, Paul.”

“Hello.” Adam said as his stomach growled loudly.

“I think we should go feed the beast.” Madeleine said picking up Monique.

“Maman, you know you aren’t supposed to pick her up.” Michael said taking his sister. They walked out the door.

“I swear, Michel you worry to much.” Madeleine stated as they went into the car.

************

The group sat down and began looking over the menu. when they all ordered they talked as they waited for their food.

Nikita looked at Michael and smiled as he whispered in Adam’s ear. Her smile widened as Adam erupted into a fit of giggles at whatever Michael said.

“You’re great with Adam and Monique.” She stated as he looked at her.

“I have to be. I love them both, so it’s not too hard. Sometimes it is difficult but I handle it.” Michael replied staring into Nikita’s eyes.

“Where did you guys move from?” Nikita asked as she sipped her water.

“Paris.” He smiled as Adam and Monique giggled playfully.

“It must of been hard leaving your home for someplace new. I don’t know how you are doing it. I’d go insane if I had to leave my home and all my friends.” Nikita said softly.

“It’s not so bad here. Besides things in Paris weren’t so great.” He replied softly.

“You’ll have to tell me about it sometime.” Nikita said.

“Maybe I will. So your accent isn’t American like your dads is.” Michael asked.

“Well, Paul isn't my real father. He adopted me when I was eleven. He saw me on the streets and went to social services. The next thing I knew he was my father. It was weird at first but I wouldn’t trade him for the world.” She explained smiling at her dad talking to Madeleine.

“I never knew my real father and my mother was the reason I was on the streets in the first place. Needless to say Dad was a Godsend. I don’t know where I would be if it hadn’t come into my life.” She finished looking back to Michael.

“What about your dad?” Nikita asked.

“My dad died when I was six. Michael replied and before he could finish their dinner arrived. He sighed gratefully and began to eat.

Nikita glanced at him from time to time as they ate. She had a felling that there was more to Michael Samuelle then meets the eye.

************

Nikita stood in front of the locker room waiting for Michael. Today was his first day of school and she’d offered to show him around. She glanced at her watch and then looked around for him.

“Hey, sorry I’m late. There was a lot of traffic.” Michael said behind her.

Nikita jumped, startled at the sound of his voice. She lost her balance and was falling forward. Michael steadied her his hand gliding around her waist. His face etched with concern.

“I’m sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you. Are you alright?” He asked as she stood up.

“It’s okay. I’m fine. Geez, did you float or something? I didn’t even hear you walking.” Nikita asked.

“I’m part cat.” He replied smiling.

“Lemme see your schedule. Let’s see who Principal George struck you with.” Nikita stated taking the paper he offered her.

“It looks like you and I have the same classes except two. Luckily Birkoff is in your math class and Carla is in your lit class.” Nikita informed him as they walked towards the classrooms.

“We all have the same lunch period. we usually meet at the trophy case over there Nikita said pointing it out.

“Carla and Birkoff are usually late because they have phys ed before lunch.” They came to a stop at a door.

“This is Miss Luciano’s class. It’s chem. and we have it together. Let’s go inside and shoot the breeze. Get some people interested in you.” Nikita said grabbing his arm and ushering him to sit beside her on the couch in the back of the room.

“Hey Chuck. How’s it hanging?” Nikita asked smiling at the guy who sat next to her.

“Hey Nikki you are looking hot as usual.” Chuck said smiling back.

“You know if you weren't my friend, you’d be a pig.” She stated glaring at him playfully.

“Hey, I’m Chuck.” He said outstretching his hand to Michael.

“”Hi, I’m Michael.” He said softly.

“Nice to meet you Michael.” Chuck replied smiling. “Where did you come here from?”

“Paris.”

“So you know the language of love huh?” Do you get a lot of chicks when you talk in French?” Chuck asked laughing.

“No really, at least not in France.” Michael replied looking a bit overwhelmed.

“Chuck can you give me a sec with Michael.” Nikita asked.

“Anything for you. Listen, I think I’m gonna need help in math if it’s not too much trouble.” Chuck asked.

“No problemo. Just let me know and we’ll get together.” She replied.

“Thanks Nikki, you’re the best.” Chuck said as he walked to a crowd of football players waving to Nikita smiling.

“You okay?” She asked looking at Michael

“Yes, I’m fine. I’m just worried about Adam and Monique.” He replied bowing his head.

“They’ll be okay Michael.” Nikita replied. “Is it weird having a son at your age?”

Michael looked at her as she bit her lower lip nervously. “At first it was but when I held Adam something happened in me, like magic. I have never loved anyone as much as him.”

“Did you love Adam’s mother? I can’t believe I just asked that.” Nikita looked at him and put her hand on his shoulder, embarrassed. “It’s too personal, don’t answer. In fact I take back the question.”

“You’re curious. That is understandable. Besides I don’t mind. Yes, I cared about Elena, I don’t know if I loved her though. I’m still trying to figure it out.” He gasped inwardly as he felt her hand go from his shoulder to his hand.

“Elena came into my life when I was very confused. She made everything go away. When we found out she was pregnant I took responsibility for her and our baby.” Michael replied. Before he could go on the teacher walked in. He and Nikita sat at a desk.

Michael smiled at her. He had never been so open about his life to anyone. Nikita was unlike all the girls he had ever found himself attracted to. He found himself inexplicably drawn to her. He shook his head slightly to try and concentrate on science.

****

Michael and Nikita stood in the parking lot waiting for Birkoff and Carla. The day had gone great for Michael, he had met a lot of people he liked. The one who had his undivided attention was two feet away from him engrossed in a book.

“Hey Nikki!” Carl Perez called out his brother Simon following him.

“Shit,” Nikita muttered softly inching her way towards Michael.

“Where were you during summer vacation? I missed you.” Carl asked.

“I was washing my hair. You know trying to wash out the dumb blonde that dated you.” Nikita replied sassily.

“Damn baby, that hurt. I don’t remember you being a bitch while we dated. What changed?” Carl asked as he stared at Michael.

“I had an epiphany. It was a reality check that I wish came before I dated you Carl. Could you please go bug someone else? My day was going so well.” Nikita sighed.

“Well you see Nikki, I’m like a dog when it comes to something I want. Once I sink my teeth into something I never let go.” Carl replied his eyes narrowing.

“I think she said to leave her alone.” Michael said softly.

“Who the hell are you? This is between Nikki and me. So if I were you I’d mind my own business.” Carl said stepping closer to Michael.

“Look I don’t want any trouble. Just leave Nikita alone like she asked and there won’t be any problems.” Michael said returning Carl’s stare with a blank one of his own.

Before Carl or Simon could do anything Birkoff arrived looking very determined. He glanced at Nikita and then at Michael as he stood toe to toe with Carl. He sighed inwardly it was too early in the school year to deal with these two morons.

“Hey Carl is there a problem here?” Birkoff asked as Carla approached them.

“Hey Birkoff. No problem just getting reacquainted with Nikita and getting to know her new friend.” Carl said smiling at Birkoff.

“Carl it is way to early to deal with your crap . Why don’ t you leave Nikki alone and go bother Andrea or something.” Birkoff said staring at Simon.

“ Whatever I’ll see you around Rookie. Hey Nikki, I’ll talk to you later. Bye Birkoff. Carla.” Carl and Simon walked away with one last glare leaving the four teens alone.

“You okay Nikki?” Carla asked looking at her friend.

“Yeah I’m okay. Thank you Michael.” Nikita said looking at him.

“It wasn’t a big deal.” He replied softly. “Who was that guy?”

“Just a mistake I made during my temporary insanity phase. Let’s go I’ve had enough of school for one day.” Nikita said sighing. “Guys why did you ever put up with him when we were dating?”

“Well we figured that everyone has errors in judgment we just accepted Carl as yours. Besides you two were always making out it shut him up most of the time.” Birkoff replied smiling as he ducked Nikita’s swatting hand.

************

Michael glanced at his watch and sighed. He was waiting in the parking lot for Adam and Monique to get out of school. They were a two years apart and when Monique started kindergarten the school had a daycare for Adam. Which Michael was grateful for since he was uneasy at their being apart.

He shook his head softly and chuckled to himself. Geez, Samuelle you are turning into a mother hen. He thought to himself in amusement. He looked at his watch and sighed again. He was meeting Nikita, Birkoff, and Carla at a restaurant downtown with a group of their friends.

He smiled as he saw his son and sister coming towards his car. He got out and greeted them with a hug and a smile. He helped them get into the Rover and buckle their seatbelts.

“So how was your first day of school?” Michael asked as he drove towards home.

“It was great, Michel. We learned colors and the other kids wanted to know how it was flying on a plane and where was Paris and did I speak French and-” Monique ran on excitedly.

“Whoa petite chouette. Slow down it’s hard to keep track when you talk so fast. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Maman is going to be happy you made new friends. Adam, how was your day?” He asked laughing at his sister and regarded his son through the rearview mirror. He laughed again as he saw Adam looking at Monique oddly.

“It went okay, Daddy. I have a lot of new friends like Monique and we are going on a trip to the zoo. I have a paper to give you when we go home. I learned how to cut a cartoon out on paper and make different colors with my crayons.” Adam said smiling widely.

“That is so good to hear. I am so happy that my two favorite little people had fun in school today. Let's go home so you could tell grandmaman about your day.” Michael said as he pulled into the driveway of his house and helped the kids out. He smiled as they ran into the house yelling excitedly for Madeleine.

He walked in and saw them talking animatedly to her. Their hands gesturing wildly to their descriptions of their day. Madeleine smiled as she took in their excitement. She hugged them and kissed them warmly as she offered them milk and cookies. She giggled at their squeals of delight.

“What no milk and cookies for me?” Michael asked softly.

“Of course their are always milk and cookies for my babies.” Madeleine said as she hugged her son warmly. “And you my son are the biggest one.”

“Hahaha very funny.” Michael said smiling at her. “You should be a standup comedian instead of an ad rep you know.”

“You know I get that a lot. Now come and get some milk and cookies.” Madeleine said following her daughter and grandson to the kitchen.

“Yes sir.” Michael said immediately following her.

He sat down next to his son and smiled as Madeleine placed the milk and cookies on the table. They ate them quickly and sighed when the cookies were finished. Adam wiped his mouth and looked at Madeleine.

“Can I have one more cookie?” He asked his eyes wide.

“Nope not until after dinner.” Michael said taking their glasses to the sink.

“Michael-”

“Maman he isn’t going to eat dinner. He can wait. I have a question.”

“What mon petit?”

“Can you watch Adam for me? I have to meet some people from school.” He asked as he rinsed out the glasses.

“Sure, you barely get out as it is. I’m kind of relieved that you have made friends so quickly. Go have fun but don’t come in to late, tomo-” She smiled as Michael cut her off.

“Tomorrow is a school day I know Maman, no worries. Did you take your pills today?” He asked hugging her.

“Yes, thank heavens I only have to take a few more.” She replied hugging him tightly. “I’m getting better. The pain is lessened and I sleep better now.”

“I’m glad. We came so close to losing you. I know sometimes I nag and obsess over things but it’s just because I worry. I’m thankful that I still have you in my life.” He whispered softly.

“So am I sweetie, so am I. Now go and have fun. I love you, Michel.” She said pushing towards the door.

“I love you too. Adam be a good boy for Grandmaman, okay” Michael said kissing his son and Monique.

“Okay Daddy. Have fun.” He said as he and Monique waved at him.

************

Nikita smiled as Chuck and Julie were talking about the football game yesterday. They were glowing with pride at the Wolves’ victory over their top rivals, the Colts. She smiled as Chuck described the quarterback of the Colts, Perry Bauer, getting sacked six times and how he limped off the field. Birkoff and Carla giggled as Chuck imitated Bauer’s limp.

Birkoff glanced up and saw Michael come in. He smiled and waved to his new friend. He and Carla moved over making room for him to sit down. He sat down and smiled his thanks.

“Hey guys. Sorry I’m late.” He said looking over menu.

“No problem, Michael.” Carla said sipping her drink.

“Michael, this is Chuck, Julie, Terry, Mick, and Gail. Guys this is Michael.” Birkoff said introducing them.

“Hey Michael. How was your first day?” Chuck asked putting his arm around Julie.

“It went okay, thanks for asking. Nice to meet everyone. Did you order already?” Michael asked .

“Nah, we got a new waiter. He's slow so we gotta be patient.” Gail said smiling at Michael.

Michael nodded as he looked in front of him and saw a blonde head hidden behind a menu. He pulled it down and smiled at Nikita. She smiled back at him.

“Are you ignoring me?” He asked curiously.

“No, just starving. My brain doesn’t function without food. Don’t take it personal ask any of these guys.” She said smiling sweetly.

“Yeah. Nikki can’t form anything intelligent without food in her stomach.” Carla said laughing.

Birkoff looked across the table at Mick. He was staring out the window quietly. Mick was never quiet, Birkoff thought as he frowned.

“Hey Mick. You okay?” Birkoff asked.

“Yeah, just thinking about going away for college and getting away from my Da.” Mick replied softly. “Which probably won’t happen if I have to leave Lizzie with him.”

“You'll figure something out and if you don’t we all will. That’s what friends are for.“ Carla grabbed his hand and squeezed it reassuringly.

“Thanks Carla. Enough of this serious stuff. The beach this weekend everyone in?” He asked brightening suddenly.

“Yeah!” Came the excited responses.

“Michael since you are new, let me the first to welcome you to our club . Also to our little soiree, but not literally since it’s not at night, to the beach.” Mick said.

“Thank you. I’d like that.” Michael said as the waiter came and everyone ordered.

**** “Thanks for the ride home, Michael.” Nikita said.

“It’s not a big deal. I figured that since I drive right by your house it is only logical for me to take you home.” He said as they stopped at a red light.

“So you used to date Carl?” Michael asked as he glanced at her.

“Unfortunately. It was the dumbest thing I’ve ever done. I guess I wanted attention at the time and he gave it to me.” She replied getting lost in his eyes.

“ It happens.” He said as the light changed and he began to drive. “I wanted to thank you.”

“Thank me? For what?” She asked.

“For making me feel welcome. I thought I was going to have a hard time adjusting but you and all your friends have made it easy.” Michael replied.

“They are your friends now too, Michael.” Nikita said softly.

“Yeah I guess they are. I also wanted to thank you for not running away when you found out about Adam.” He said softly as he pulled into her driveway.

“It was nothing. Adam’s a good kid . Besides he is as cute as his father is. Thanks for the ride again Michael.” Nikita said smiling at him as she got out of the car.

Michael sat there stunned for a second. He waved at her and drove to his driveway. He got out of his car and smiled as he locked his doors. She thinks I’m cute, it‘s a start, he thought as a big goofy grin spread across his face. LA was looking better and better.

************

Michael sat in the office and looked at his watch. He was waiting for Mr. Walter Anderson, the athletic director, to come from lunch. Where was he? Michael thought glancing at his watch again.

“Hey there, Kid? You must be Michael. Come have a seat.” Walter said sitting at his desk.

“So what can I do you for?” He asked looking at the young man in front of him.

“Well I was told that if I wanted to try out for any sports to come and talk to you. They told me that since I Registered late I might not be able to play.” Michael said looking at the old man.

“Let’s see what I can do. It says here you play all sports. Do you have any particular preference?” Walter asked looking up from Michael’s file.

“I prefer basketball, soccer, and hockey, since you don’t have rugby in the US.” Michael replied.

“Okay, well Hockey doesn’t start till November and basketball isn’t till January. So you are in luck. Soccer started this week. Tryouts were held last week but I’m sure we could work something out with Coach Turner. So how do you like LA?” Walter asked sitting back in his chair.

“I like it so far. It’s different from Paris, sir.” Michael said not sure what to make of this old man.

“Kid, call me Walter everyone does. Now let’s get you introduced to Coach Turner he is going to absolutely love you.” Walter replied smiling as he ushered Michael out.

When they arrived in the locker room Walter called for Coach Turner. Michael saw a thin muscular guy wearing shorts, t-shirt, and a red hat walking towards them. HE smiled at Walter and nodded at Michael.

“Hey Russ, this is Michael Samuelle, the new kid form Paris. I was tellin you about.” Walter said introducing them

“Hi Mike.” Turner said shaking Michael’s hand.

“Michael, please. Pleasure to meet you Coach Turner.” Michael said.

“Walter tells me you want to play soccer.”

“Yes sir.”

“Do you have a free period?” Turner asked as they walked into his office.

“Yes sir. My next class is a free period.”

“Okay suit up and meet me in the field in five.” Turner said dismissing the teen.

“Yes sir.” Before Michael could walk out Walter stopped him and smiled.

“If you need anything at all Michael, you come to good ole Walter. I’m like your new best friend okay?” Walter said

“Okay. Thank you Mr. Ande- Walter.” Michael finished with a grin

************

Michael walked to the field and breathed in the fresh air. He smiled as he began to really relax. He looked around and saw a group of girls stretching and talking to each other.

He began stretching and warming up. After he was limber he started to run around the field to warm his muscles. He ran near the group of girls and smiled at them. He saw a familiar blonde head and his smile widened. He chuckled as she started to run next to him. He glanced at her as she kept pace with him.

“Hey Samuelle. How’s it going?” She asked looking at him.

“Hey Kita. It’s going good. What are you here for?” Michael asked.

“Practicing for volleyball. You?” She asked.

“Auditioning for soccer. I gotta go see what Coach Turner wants me to do. I’ll talk to you later.” Michael said running towards the coach.

“Sure thing. Hey can you give me a ride after school. My dad took my car to get serviced.” Nikita asked as she watched him jog.

“Sure thing see you then.” He waved as he ran.

He approached Coach Turner who had a soccer ball by his feet. He stopped in front of him and waited for the man to direct him.

“Okay Michael let’s see how your dribbling skills are. Here you go.” HE said handing the young man the soccer ball.

“Sure thing, Coach.” Michael said dribbling the soccer ball for a minute. When he got the familiar feeling of control he began to work his magic. He had practiced long and hard to perfect his soccer game and it showed.

Turner regarded the kid in front of him. He had amazing control. He knew where the ball was before it even got there. His balance and endurance were uncanny. Let’s try something else Turner thought.

“Michael do some fancy foot work. Don’t stop unless you drop the ball.” He said eyeing the kid.

Michael didn’t even acknowledge Turner’s comment. He just launched the ball up and began hitting it with his knees. Then his head and ankles until the ball was alternating between all three. He concentrated and began to have fun. He smiled slightly as he began to go a little faster.

Nikita who had been regarding Michael as he dribbled the ball stood silently and watched his athletic abilities. She was dumbfounded. He was really good. HE knew how to control the ball and exactly where to hit it next. She sighed softly as she took in his sweaty face and t-shirt. I wonder if he is that good at anything else. She blushed as she turned away intent on warming up for volleyball.

****

Michael smiled as he walked to his car and saw Nikita, Birkoff, Carla and Gail waiting for him. He fished his keys out of his pocket as he approached the group.

“Hey guys. How’s it going?” He asked smiling again.

“What are you so happy about Michael ?” Carla asked smiling at him.

“You are looking at the newest edition to the Parkside Wolves.” He replied shyly.

“Turner let you in? Terminator Turner, let you try out late?” Birkoff asked incredulously.

“Yeah. I think I got in though cause I impressed him.” Michael said softly.

“That’s great Michael. Are you gonna be starting?” Gail asked.

“No, since I started late I won’t but Walter said that it might change.” Michael said.

“I still can’t believe Turner let you in. He is usually the prick of all pricks.” Birkoff replied.

“Well Birkoff you haven’t seen Michael play. Turner would have been an idiot to pass him up. Besides with the way our team is looking we need all the help we can get.” Nikita replied.

“True, well we gotta go or Carla’s dad is gonna have my head on a gonna stick. Talk to you guys later. Congrats Michael.” Birkoff said as he and Carla walked off.

“Gail we gotta split. I’ll call you and we’ll talk about Mick. Okay?” Nikita said hugging her friend.

“Okay Nikki. Talk to you later. Bye Michael. Be have.”

“I will. Bye Gail.“ Michael chuckled as he opened the door for Nikita.

Nikita smiled as she stepped into the car. Her cheeks were warm and her stomach fluttering. Michael was affecting her in ways she was scared to admit. Nikita sighed what would someone like him be interested in someone like me. She thought to herself bitterly. She stared out the window the rest of the way home the car filled with silence.

************

Michael parked his car in his driveway and looked at Nikita. He wondered what was wrong with her. She hadn’t said one word while he drove home. Her silence bothered him.

“Nikita, are you okay?” Michael asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine just have a lot on my mind. I have to go. Thanks for the ride Michael. I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Congratulations on making the team.” Nikita said smiling as she exited the car quickly.

Michael stared at her retreating form and wondered what was wrong with her. He got out of his car and Adam barreled into him. His son hugged him tightly and Michael smiled happily.

“Hello.” Michael said hugging his son warmly. “How are you today?”

“Okay Daddy.” Adam said as Michael carried him to the house.

“Did you have fun in school?”

“Mhmm. My friends said that Friday is the best day of the week. Can some of them come to the house Sunday?” Adam asked as Michael set him down and they walked to the kitchen.

“That should be okay. We have to ask Grandma first. Where is she?” Michael asked.

“She is in her room.” Adam said going upstairs to his room.

Michael walked to his mother’s room and saw her sitting on the bed. Michael knocked softly before entering and sat beside her. He saw her looking at an album. He looked over and saw pictures of him as a child.

“Hi. Are you okay?” He asked as he saw a little version of himself with his real father, Leon.

“Yeah. I really wish he was still here. Not a day has gone by where I don’t think of him.” Madeleine said softly.

“So do I. What happened Maman?” He asked sensing something was wrong.

Madeleine gestured to her dresser and saw Michael get up to look at the papers in the folder. He looked so much like Leon. She smiled as she saw his face light up. He looked at her and smiled wider.

“It’s finally over.” He whispered as he went over and hugged her tightly. “Are you happy?”

“Yes. Someone very dear to me made me realize that I deserve much better then Charles. He is a really smart person.” Madeleine said holding her son close.

“You do, Maman. You are a very special person. you are going to find someone who worships you and when you do I will be very happy for you.” Michael said looking at her.

“Do you think Charles will try for custody of Monique?” Michael asked softly.

“I don’t know. I pray that he doesn’t. If he tries then we get through it.” Madeleine stated firmly. “I won’t let him take her Michael. I swear it.”

“ I know you won’t. Are you still able to watch Adam tomorrow?” He asked changing the subject.

“Yes. I told you I would. So how is school going?” She asked getting up.

“Okay. I met a lot of people.” He replied following her to the kitchen. “That’s good. Are you hungry?” She asked as she smiled at Adam who hugged her legs tightly.

“Yes.” Adam replied.

“You are always hungry. I was talking to your father.” Madeleine chuckled.

“No, I’m not.” Michael replied as he picked up Adam and swung him in the air. Adam shrieked as Michael caught him.

“You never eat and I really wish you wouldn’t swing Adam around like that.” Madeleine said.

“I’m not hungry.” Michael said ignoring his mother’s last comment.

“Salla and Vashdi called. They wanted to talk to you and Adam.” Madeleine said as she served Adam, Monique, Michael, and herself. “Monique! Dinner!”

“Maman, I’m not hungry.” Michael protested.

“Eat a little bit Michael.” Madeleine said as Monique walked in.

“Fine. I’ll call Adam’s grandparents tomorrow when I get up. They’ll want to talk to him.” Michael replied as he regarded Adam eating.

Madeleine saw her son’s eyes fill up with tears. She watched as he looked down and gathered his strength. She was proud of him. He wasn’t perfect but he stood firm in his responsibilities. He was a great son and an even better father. She believed that somewhere in Heaven Elena was looking down at him in pride.

“Daddy can I go to the beach with you tomorrow?” Adam asked.

“Not this time Adam. We’ll go next week. Grandma said that you and Monique were doing something important.” Michael replied looking at Adam, the tears gone form his eyes.

“Yup. Okay but I want to go next week. Can we all go? Me, you, Monique, and Grandma?” Adam asked hopefully.

“I don’t see why not.” Michael responded lightly.

“Cool.” Dam said as he continued eating.

“Thanks for dinner Maman. I’m going to start my homework. Adam and Monique when you are done bring you school work to my room. We’ll start on it today. Okay.” Michael said putting his plate in the sink.

“Okay.” They said together.

Michael went upstairs to his room and sat on his chair. he looked at a picture of him and Elena holding Adam. He sighed harshly. He missed her so much. He had done some thinking the past few weeks and he realized that he loved Elena. Now that she was gone he had a gap in his heart. He shook his head as a tear ran down his cheek. Adam was so much like her. For that he was grateful. It gave him a part of her in this world. He wondered if this sadness would ever stop.

An unexpected image of Nikita popped into his brain. That girl was special. She was gorgeous inside and out. Michael sighed his thoughts turning dark. Would he betray Elena’s memory? Besides what would Nikita see in a single father anyways? He thought sadly.

************

Michael groaned as his alarm clock woke him out of a deep slumber. He sighed as he reached out to turn it off. He buried his head under his pillow and stretched slightly relishing the comfort of his bed.

He smiled as he felt a little body trying to sneak in his covers. He peeked out from under the pillow and saw the dark head of his son laying next to him snuggling happily.

“Good morning.” Michael whispered hugging his son to him.

“Hi Daddy.” Adam said softly.

“Why are you up so early?” He asked shifting so he could look at Adam.

“I couldn't sleep. I had a dream about Mommy. She held me until I feel asleep and then I woke up and she wasn’t there no more.” Adam said quietly hugging Michael tightly.

“Shhh. It’s okay. Mommy is always with you Adam. She is up in heaven and smiling at what a good boy you are. She lives in here.” Michael said touching the place over Adam’s heart.

“She does?” Adam asked giggling softly.

“Yeah. It’s her special place.” Michael said tweaking his son’s nose.

“Does Mommy have a special place with you ?” Adam asked wide eyed.

“Yes, she does right here.” Michael replied holding Adam’s hand over his heart.

“That’s great Daddy. We all share Mommy’s special place.” Adam said hugging Michael.

Michael hugged his son and sighed. His boy was so special. He was the best kid in the world in Michael’s eyes. He didn’t know what he would do if something ever happened to Adam. Michael sighed again and thanked God that he still had Adam.

****

Madeleine smiled as her son entered the kitchen ready to go the beach. She was happy that he was finally getting out of the house. He needed some time to himself.

“Good morning Michael.” Madeleine said.

“Hi Mom.” He said grabbing a croissant and slathered it with butter.

“Are you ready for today?” Madeleine asked him.

“Yup. Couldn’t be any more ready. I gotta go get Nikita. Thank you again for watching Adam. He is asleep in my bed. Give him and Monique a kiss for me.” Michael said kissing his mother.

“I love you Maman.” he said in her ear.

“I love you too, sweetie. Be careful and have fun.” Madeleine said as he walked out he door.

****

Michael knocked on Nikita’s door and smiled as her father answered. He shook Paul’s hand as he stepped into the house.

“Hi Michael.”

“Hello Mr. Wolfe. I haven’t seen you in a while.” Michael said.

“I know and I apologize. We have this new case brewing hopefully I will be able to invite you and your family to dinner at chez moi.” Paul said smiling.

“I’d really like that Mr. Wolfe.” Michael replied smiling back.

“Hey Michael.” Nikita said coming up behind her father. “Dad, you aren’t corrupting the youth are you?”

“Not this week sweetie. I have to much work to do. Speaking of work I have to go to work. Have fun and be careful.” Paul said kissing his daughter and shaking Michael’s hand as he left.

“Hi Nikita.” Michael said smiling.

“Hi Michael. You ready?” Nikita asked.

“If you are.”

“Let’s go”

As they drove to the beach the car was filled with silence. Nikita sighed she didn’t know how much more she could take. She glanced over at Michael and a flush crept up to her cheeks.

“Michael... I have a confession to make.” Nikita said hesitantly.

“What?” Michael asked relieved that the silence was broken.

“This is gonna sound lame but I’m gonna go nuts if I don’t say anything. I tell everyone how honest I am and now I’m nervous and scared and don’t know where to start-” Nikita’s ramblings were cut off by Michael touching her hand.

“Nikita you are rambling. Don’t worry about sounding dumb or being nervous. Just say what you want to say.” Michael said loving the sound of her voice and the way she bit her lower lip.

“Michael, I really like you.” Nikita said shortly.

“I really like you too, Nikita.” Michael said looking away from the road to glance at her a smile on his face.

Nikita smiled back as a tingle spread through her stomach. She glanced down at her hand which was still covered with Michael’s. Maybe just maybe Michael Samuelle was different then the other guys she was attracted to. She laughed inwardly. He has a four year old child, that was already way different then half the guys she knew. She glanced at him and saw a flush on his cheeks.

************

Michael got out of the Land Rover and inhaled the sweet smell of the surf. He really needed this day out. He loved his son but he needed some time with people his own age.

He smiled at Nikita feeling a little short of breath whenever she looked at him. He had meant what he said in the car but he didn't want to rush into anything. He followed her until they found a group of kids from school.

He smiled as Carla came up to him and hugged him. Birkoff shook his hand and smiled followed by Chuck and Mick. Then Andrea a girl he met yesterday hugged him warmly. He pushed away slightly uncomfortably.

There were a few new faces that he didn’t recognize and Nikita introduced them as Terry, Jack, an Chris. That’s when Gail came with Gray and everyone hit the water. Michael swam out with his new found friends and smiled in contentment.

****

An hour later the group was playing football together. The air was filled with their laughter and shouts of encouragement and mock insults. Chuck, Michael, Carla, Gray, Mick, Jack on one team and Gail, Birkoff, Nikita, Terry, Andrea, and Chris on the other.

Michael smiled as he guarded Nikita. She was great at sports. He smiled happily. He was having so much fun.

He ran in back of Nikita as he watched her jump for a high ball thrown by Chris. She caught it and when she landed she lost her balance. Michael caught her and lost his footing. They both ended up in a heap on the sand. Nikita on top of Michael who used his body to break her fall. She smiled at him funny and he lost his breath.

“Touchdown.” She whispered leaning her head close to his ear.

“Yeah.” He replied huskily his accent pronounced as her breath fluttered across his ear.

“Thanks for the save.” She said looking at him the smile still on her face.

“Anytime.” He replied smiling smugly.

Nikita found herself hoisted off of Michael. Chris hugged her and whooped. Birkoff helped Michael off the ground and saw his friends eyes glued to Nikita. Birkoff waved his hand in front of Michael’s eyes. He smiled as Michael blinked and fixed annoyed eyes on him.

“C’mon Don Juan. We gotta go buy lunch for the winners.” Birkoff chuckled at Michael.

“Hey baby.” Carla called to him as they made their way to their team.

“Hmmm?” Birkoff said as he turned towards Carla. He didn’t have time to breath as she kissed him hard. When she let him go they were both breathing hard.

“ Love you.” She said as she walked away happily.

“If I have to be called Don Juan then you should be Casanova.” Michael said to Birkoff chuckling.

“Laugh it up French boy at least I got a kiss.” Birkoff said smugly.

They went to McDonalds and bought lunch. When they got back it was like feeding a pack of cattle. Everyone pushed each other playfully and shouted for their food. Michael sat down with his hamburger and fries and began to eat. He smiled as Nikita made her way over to him. He moved over to make room for her on his towel.

“Hey.” He said as she sat down.

“Hi, thanks for the seat.”

They ate for a while staring out into the surf. Nikita would sneak glances at him out of the corner of her eye. He was just gorgeous. She sighed as she sipped her lemonade.

“That was a great catch.” Michael said finishing off his hamburger.

“Thanks. My father taught me well.” She said munching on a fry.

“Remind me to commend him.” Michael smiled slightly.

“Sure thing.” Before she could say anything else Gray appeared in back of Nikita a bottle of sunscreen in his hand.

“Here Nikki, let me put this on. You are getting a little pink on your shoulders.” Gray said rubbing the sunscreen slowly on her back.

Michael glanced over his shoulder at Gray. He shook his head slightly. This guy was feeling Nikita up. He felt a wave of jealousy run through him. Even though he and Nikita were only friends he didn’t deny that his feelings for her were more then just friendship.

“Thanks Gray. My shoulders will thank you later.” Nikita said smiling at Gray and continued eating her fries.

****

The group of teens were sitting on the pier talking. Michael made sure to sit by Nikita before Gray did. Inside he cursed his childish behavior but he couldn’t help it.

“So Michael tell us about your self.” Terry said.

“Well I moved here from Paris as some of you know. We needed a change and thought moving to where my mom grew up was good enough. It’s just me, my mom, my sister Monique, and my son Adam.” He said shyly.

“You have a son?” Gray asked.

“Yes.” Michael said his face beaming with pride. “ He is the best. A little miniature version of me and his mom. It’s weird and fascinating at the same time.”

“It must be hard to have a kid at your age.” Gail said.

“It was at first but I’m doing okay. My mom and I help each other out. It can be a little overwhelming but I would not change anything. Adam is the best part of me.” He said sincerely.

“Wow. Where is his mother?” Mick asked.

“She died in a car accident last year.” Michael said darkly.

“Sorry Michael.” Mick said

“It’s okay.” Michael said.

They told Michael about themselves and then went back to their cars. Many of them were tired and ready to head home. They all said goodbyes and embraced Michael into their small family with open arms.

************

Michael parked his car in the driveway. He shook Nikita’s shoulder gently to wake her up. He glanced at her openly, his eyes soaking in her beauty. He shook her gently again. He smiled as her blue eyes opened.

“Hey sleepyhead. We are home.” Michael said shutting off his car.

She yawned and stretched taking her time waking up. She glanced in the backseat where Birkoff, Carla and Chuck were sleeping soundly.

“Did we sleep the whole way?” She asked.

“Yes.” Michael said yawing.

“Oh, Michael I’m sorry. You should have woken me up.” She stated.

“Why? I’m fine, Nikita. This is nothing. Believe me when you have a four year old child and a six year old sister you develop a tolerance for being tired.” He said smiling

He got out of the car and stretched. Nikita blushed as she remembered his muscled upper body glistening wet...Cut it out Nikita she scolded herself.

She stepped out of the car and opened the back door to wake up her friends. She smiled as Birkoff swatted her hand away and cuddled closer to Carla. Michael shook Chucks shoulder and he woke up rubbing his eyes. He glanced at Michael and got out of the car.

Carla woke up as Nikita shook her awake. She smiled as her friend pointed at Birkoff who was nestled in her neck. She kissed his head and whispered in his ear waking him up. He yawned as he glanced at her and then at Nikita.

They both got out of the car. Carla kissed Birkoff goodbye tiredly and said goodnight to Michael and Chuck. Nikita smiled at Chuck, Birkoff, and Michael. They waved goodbye and went to Michael’s door.

“Maman, I’m home.” Michael announced loudly.

Chuck and Birkoff saw two blurs about knee high run and launch themselves at Michael.

“DADDY!”

“MICHEL!”

Michael smiled as he picked up Adam and Monique. He kissed them and hugged them tightly. He smelled Adam’s hair and sighed. He missed his son very much.

“Hey mon deux enfants favori. Comment -allez- vous?” Michael asked .

Birkoff and Chuck were lost on the conversation that ensued in French. They watched in fascination as the children's faces were animated as they conversed in French rapidly. Michael would laugh and nod from time to time.

“Okay. Okay slow down. I’m having a hard time keeping up. Where’s Maman at?” He asked nodding for Chuck and Birkoff to follow him.

“She is in the kitchen. Cooking lasagna.” Adam said happily.

“Lasagna huh? I want you two to meet Chuck and Birkoff my friends. Guys this is my sister, Monique and my son, Adam.”

“Hello.” The two children said together.

“Hi.” Birkoff and Chuck said.

“Michel? C’est toi?” Madeleine asked from the kitchen.

“Oui. J’ai deux amis ici. Ils vont dormir ici. Pas problem?” Michael asked walking into the kitchen.

“It’s not a problem honey. Hi, I’m Michael’s mother, Madeleine Sand.” She said hugging the boys warmly. “Welcome to our home. Are you hungry?”

“Yes ma’am.” Birkoff said and Chuck nodded his head in agreement.

“Good. go wash up and dinner will be served. Adam, Monique why don’t you show Michael his surprise.” Madeleine said smiling.

“My surprise?” Michael asked confused. “I gotta see this Chuck, Birkoff the bathroom is the door to the right of the stairs.”

“Okay Michael.” They went off to the bathroom to wash up.

****

Michael gasped as Monique and Adam turned on the light to the attic. It had been decorate and furnished. He looked around in awe.

It had a couch and a television at the far side of the room. It had a mini fridge there too. Next to the window there was a cello stand along with a music stand. There was a bathroom there as well as a stereo system. He looked up and there was a sky view glass.

He looked at his son and his sister. They were looking expectantly at him. He smiled at them and knelt down to be at eye level with them.

“When did you guys do this?” He asked.

“When you were at the beach silly.” Monique replied as if speaking to a child. “Maman thought it would be nice to have a place for only you and your friends where me and Adam or her could not go to. Do you like Michel?”

“I love it muppet.” He said softly his voice catching with emotion. These kids and his mother were three in three billion.

Michael smiled at her exuberance. He hugged her and Adam. He was so blessed to have a family who loved him enough to make him something like this. He sighed and closed his eyes thanking God for all the blessings he had in his life.

************

Madeleine smiled as she opened the door and the smiling face of Paul Wolfe was revealed. She invited him in as Adam called her from the couch. Michael was at soccer practice and she was babysitting Adam until he came home. It had been three months since they had moved to LA and she was happy that she Michael and the kids had adjusted well to life here.

“Hi Madeleine.” Paul said brandishing a bottle of wine and some Chinese food.

“What’s this?”

“Well this is dinner. I have no idea if wine and Chinese food go together but when in Rome.” He replied as she invited him in.

“I haven’t seen you around for a while.” Madeleine commented as she went into the living room to Adam.

“I know. I apologize. Work has been overwhelming.” He leaned towards her conspiratorially and whispered. “Despite popular belief LA is filled with crime.”

“Very funny. Michael should be home any minute. He will definitely appreciate the food. Is Nikita coming?” Madeleine asked as she carried Adam to the kitchen.

“Yeah. I told her this morning. So how is the new job at the illustrious Jones Ad Firm?” Paul asked as he helped Adam set the table. Monique walked in and began filling glasses with ice.

“Great. I love it. I didn’t know how much missed LA until I began working. Paris was great but this is my home.” Madeleine said.

“I understand. When I was in the military I moved around a lot. When I adopted Nikki I realized that I had to settle down for her sake and mine. I’m glad I did.” Paul said softly lost in thoughts of his daughter.

“So how did you find her?” Madeleine asked.

“I was in Australia on assignment and I was at a burger joint when I first saw her. She was with her mother at the time. I felt bad for her. She was this little girl who was living on the streets you know. A few days later, it was at night I went back with a few of my buddies and saw her huddled in the corner crying. When I went to her she tensed up like I was going to hurt her. somehow I managed to convince her to come into the restaurant and get something to eat.” Paul said softly.

“The next day her mother was there with her and they were arguing about something. Then a guy came out of the alley they were standing in and grabbed her trying to pull he back into the alley while her mother just stood there. I ran over there to help her and heard her screaming no. I went into the alley and got him off of her. I looked at her mother and she didn’t even try to stop it. The next thing I knew I was in social services and they let me take her. It wasn’t easy but I wasn’t going to let anything stop me from helping her.” Paul said his voice husky with emotion.

“She is the light of my life. After my wife died with our unborn son before I came back from ‘Nam nothing really mattered. then Nikita came into my life and I found a reason to be happy again.” He stated rubbing his eyes with the heels of his hands.

“At least she found someone who cares about her as much as you do.” Madeleine said softly.

“No, I’m the lucky one. She got through all her issues and let me love her.”

“Maman I’m home.” A deep voice called out.

“Daddy’s home!” Adam said as he bolted from the kitchen with Monique following close behind.

“I forgot they were here.” Paul said.

“Don’t worry they were so busy setting the table they weren’t even paying attention.” Madeleine said patting his hand, smiling warmly.

****

“Daddy!” Adam shouted as he jumped into Michael’s arms.

“Hey.” Michael said smiling at his son’s enthusiasm.

“Dad, you stink.” Adam said wrinkling his nose.

“Thank you for the information, Adam. Nikita why didn’t you tell me that I smelled?” Michael said softly.

“Michael I stuck my head out the window the whole way home.” Nikita said smiling as Monique hugged her tightly.

“Hey where is my hug?” Michael asked his sister.

“Lave-toi and then I will hug you.” She replied seriously.

“Yes sir. Adam let me go take a shower so I could hug Monique.” Michael said putting his son down.

“I’ll be back.” He said smiling at Nikita brightly as he ran up the stairs.

****

Nikita sat next her dad laughing at him while he was playing with Adam and Monique. She smiled as Madeleine laughed at the two vibrant children. Madeleine smiled back at her.

“Hey what is going on here?” Michael asked freshly showered.

Nikita looked at him. He wore jeans and a v-neck tee shirt. Her eyes drank in every part of him. She sighed inwardly as he sat next to her. She inhaled his clean scent mixed with the smell of cologne.

“Well let’s eat.” Madeleine said serving everyone.

************

Michael went out into the back yard where Nikita was. He smiled as he stood beside her leaning on the railing. He looked out at the stairs and smiled at the peacefulness that surrounded them.

He sensed Nikita’s mood as she stood next to him. He sighed softly as the past three months played out in his head. He and Nikita became really close friends. They talked about almost anything. The only thing Michael hadn’t told her was what happened to Charles and his mother and why they left Paris.

They also didn’t cross the line between that of friendship and something more. He wanted to but he was also afraid of ruining the bond he and Nikita were forming. He looked at her and felt something pull in his heart.

Some things are worth it though a voice whispered in his head.

He smiled at her as she turned her head to look at him. When she smiled back he reached and took her hand in his. He felt... He didn’t know what he felt as her hand rested in his. All he knew was that he liked it. He looked up at the sky and sighed.

He was weighing his thoughts and emotions. Whatever I’m feeling it’s more then lust, he thought to himself. He squeezed her hand slightly and turned to face her.

He moved his other hand to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. She leaned into his touch and looked at him. He caressed her cheek and moved closer to her.

“I don’t want to ruin the friendship we have with each other, Nikita.” He whispered his accent more pronounced.

“Neither do I.” She said softly her eyes focused on his lips. “But I’m not going to lie and say that all I see you as is a friend. I want more from you.”

“Me too.” He whispered his lips a breath away form hers.

He pressed his lips to hers softly. He pulled away slightly allowing her a chance to pull back. When their lips met again he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer to him. He felt butterflies in his stomach as she kissed him back. Her lips were soft and warm and she tasted like strawberries.

“Daddy?” Adam’s little voice rang out from the door.

Michael broke the embrace gently and turned to face Adam who was in back of him. He held Nikita’s hand in his as he looked at his son.

“Adam what are you still doing up?” Michael asked

“I want you to play the cello for me.” Adam said going to his father. “I couldn't sleep.”

“Okay. Go to your room. I’ll be there in a few minutes okay.” Michael said gently rubbing his son’s head.

“Okay. G’night Nikita.” Adam said hugging Nikita and then his father before going upstairs.

“We have to talk.” Michael said softly rubbing Nikita’s hair back.

“Definitely.” She whispered hugging him to her softly.

“Nikki, c’mon sweetie. We gotta head home.” Paul’s voice rang out.

“I guess we will have to take a rain check on that talk.” Nikita said nuzzling his lips with her nose.

“Looks like it. I better go and tuck Adam in.” Michael whispered not releasing his hold on her.

“Yeah you should.” Nikita said huskily.

“Sweet Dreams, Nikita.” He whispered as he kissed her again gently. He released her and smiled before he disappeared into the house with a little wave.

She sighed and took a deep breath. She still felt her heart thumping in her chest. Her cheek felt hot where he had touched her. Boy do I need to be careful, that guy can be addicting, she thought. She smiled as she thought about their kiss as she went to her father she wore that smile all the way home.
