"Water Dance"

Rushing water laps the sand
As it tries to catch the shore
But is tugged back out to sea
As it’s always been before.

Within the shadows standing
So quietly in the night
Is the darkman who is watching
Long blonde tresses in the light.

She dances in the moonlight
Under jasmine scented sky
While the nightbirds are a-calling
To their mates who are close by.

She spreads her arms about her
Grasping something that’s not there,
As he watches in the shadows
With a teary green-eyed stare.

Faint breeze excites the bushes
As she sighs upon the sand.
If he’d only reach his arm out,
He could take her by the hand.

And the tide continues trying.
While the birds have gone to bed,
But the wistful blonde-haired beauty
Has gone in the house instead.
