Tall mountain posed against the sky
Like canvas with brush strokes awry.
From orchid peaks still tinged with snow
The melting waters start to flow.
Trickling down at sun's first kiss,
Melding with others they meet like this,
The flowing streams attack the rock.
Eroding it, they seem to mock
The very majesty of might,
That such a most significant sight
Could on its knees be made to cower
Under the waters' endless power.
But fret it does and with the stress
The rock shows signs of great distress.
Deep grooves appear as wrinkles do
Across its face now tinged with blue.
It cries the tears of melting snow
Forever marked by what's below.
Kissed by the clouds that hover near
It braces for ten million years.
