The night was heavy with darkness
     Not a star could be seen in the sky.
     Nikita followed the white citreon
     To see what Michael denied.

     For she knew he was up to something.
     The guilt had been in his eyes.
     He hadn't confessed the reason.
     The truth was in disquise.

     Why didn't he tell her the reason?
     Relieve the stress of the lie?
     Know that she wouldn't deceive him?
     Know that she'd standby or die?

     Fog crept into the hollow.
     Dampness made chilly the night.
     Nikita kept close to her target
     Waiting and ready to fight.

     He walked to the door of the building.
     Knocked once and entered the door.
     A shot rang out in the coldness.
     Nikita saw death on the floor.

     Two dead and Michael was moving
     Through halls of that building to greet
     Someone he hugged in the dimness
     Someone he knew he would meet.

     Nikita was stunned in the shadows.
     The man she saw Michael embrace
     Was the same man seen at the bomb site
     With the long hair and mole on his face!

     "Stop these act", Michael told him.
     "I will help you to get away."
     Rene refused Michael's offer.
     While Nikita watched in dismay.

     "Michael, why couldn't you tell me?"
     She thought, as she headed for home.
     "Now I must settle this business
     Unaided and all on my own."

     Michael came over to see her
     At last finally willing to speak.
     At last he is showing emotion.
     He sadly admitted defeat.

     He doubted he'd go through with killing
     That someone he cared for so much.
     (An unusual revelation!)
     And then their fingers touched!!

     postcript:

     Section is never condusive
     To truth or sharing of fears.
     Nikita is slowly learning
     That life there is sadness and tears.
