CHAPTER 1

NIKITA'S APARTMENT:

"Tonight is unusually quiet," Nikita thought to herself. "I think I'll finish the dishes, take a shower, and then go to bed."

As she's washing the dishes, someone comes up behind her and wraps their arms around her waist and kisses the back of her head. She knows who it is right away.

"Michael." she says it in a cold voice. "What are you doing here?"

Mich: "Since you think I'm cold and heartless, I decided to come here and prove you wrong."

Nikita pushes him away and pulls a knife out on him.

Nik: "Do you really think I'm going to believe that?" She looks at him for a moment. "Well you're wrong!"

Mich: "Why don't you believe me?"

Nik (yelling): "Well I wonder Michael? You have lied to me so many times. Get out of my apartment now!"

Mich: "Not until we talk." He says this with a calm tone in his voice.

Nik: "Get out or I'll cancel you!"

Mich: "You won't do it."

Nik: "Last chance Michael! Leave!"

Michael stands there, as if he were challenging her to kill him. "She won't do it." Michael thought. "She doesn't have it in her."

"I'll give him one more minute to leave." Nikita thought. "Damn! He's still here."

Nik: "That's it! Get ready to be canceled, Michael."

She is about to stab him when he walks towards her and stabs himself instead. As he falls to the floor, she catches him.

Mich: "I'd rather be dead than keep on living without you. I love you Nikitaaa."

Nik: "Michael? Michael! Don't you die on me!"

When Nikita finally realizes he's dead, she whispers "I love you too Michael." as tears fall from her eyes onto his emotionless, pale face.

SECTION:

When she awakens up, she is sweating and breathing rapidly.

Nik: "It was only a dream." She says with a sigh of relief.

"What was a dream?" Someone in the darkness says. She knows where she is and who that is, now, in the shadows. She fell asleep at Section One headquarters and Michael was sitting at the desk watching her. She feels relieved that it was only a dream.

Nik: "Nothing. Don't worry about it."

Mich: "Okay. There's a briefing in half an hour, but we have to be there earlier."

Nik: "Why?"

Mich: "You'll find out."

Nik: "Whatever."

She is about to go back to sleep when she hears Michael moving towards the bed. He sits down on the bed beside her, but she still keeps her eyes closed. The next thing she realizes, he starts to kiss her on the lips. She pulls away before it gets to serious.

Nik: "I think we should go."

Mich: "I'll be there in a minute."

With that Nikita leave. But before she closes the door she looks back at him. There is a look of pain in his eyes. "I'm sorry Michael, but I'm not ready to get hurt again." She thinks and then leaves.

CHAPTER 2

SECTION: DEBRIEFING ROOM

Nikita arrives in the main room where Madeline and Operations are.

Nik: "So what's going on?"

Made: "How are you today, Nikita?"

Nik: "Fine, I guess."

She turned to look at the door and saw Michael walking in. She looks at him and saw no expression on his face again. "Damn, you're good at hiding you emotions aren't you Michael?" She thinks to herself.

Ops: "Nikita, it's time for you to take on more responsibilities around here."

Nik: "You sound like my father."

Made: "Nikita." She says with a warning tone to her voice.

Ops: "Nikita, meet Kit. She will be trained by you as you were by Michael."

From her appearance, Kit looks to be about 14 years old.

Nik: "No! No way am I going to train this 14 year old."

Kit: "For your information, I am 20."

Nik: "Yeah right!"

Ops: "Here's a profile on Kit. And you WILL train her with the help of Michael."

She looks at Michael who returns the look. About this time, Walter and Birkoff walk in and look at Kit. Walter stands there and stares at Kit for a moment. Birkoff just stares at her with his mouth open.

Kit: "Something wrong?"

Walt: "No." to Nikita "Hey sugar, she looks like you only.....smaller and younger."

Nik: "Okay Walter, if you say so." Then she smiled at him.

Ops: "If you are finished? Good. Let's get down to the business at hand, shall we? Good. This young man is the son of one of the most ruthless terrorist group leaders."

Kit is looking at the picture very hard and then she notices who he is. Her mouth drops opened.

Kit: "I know him. That's my Babe!"

Operations looks at her with an unusual look on his face, and waits for her to explain.

Kit: "I mean Kris Maples."

Operations face turns into a cold grin with a sparkle in his eyes when he realizes that she knew who the target was.

Ops: "You know him?"

Kit: "Yes."

Ops: "Good, then we can use you during this mission."

Nik: "No, she's not going to be ready."

Ops: "She'll be ready enough. The mission isn't going to be for two more weeks."

Nik: "But...."

Michael stops her by touching her hand under the table, and holds it in his own.

Ops: "Alright. Kit, you will find a way to get Kris away from the guards. Go to a movie, or something. Nikita, Michael, you will act like kidnappers and take Kris to an abandoned house, where you will make the contact with Maples. Tell him that if he doesn't surrender in one day, Kris will die."

Kit looks surprised and hurt at the news she just heard. Nikita notices and then looks at Michael who also notices the look on Kit's face. Michael just squeezes Nikita's hand to calm her down.

Ops: "Dismissed."

CHAPTER 3

TRAINING ROOM:

(one week later....)

Kit's training is going very well. She has passed all the tests that Nikita has put her through. "She's almost as good as I was when I first came." Nikita thinks.

Mich: "How's everything going, Nikita?"

Nik: "Fine."

Mich: "Kit seems to be progressing well."

Nik: "Yes." She started to look down.

Michael could tell there was something wrong with her.

Mich: "I need to speak with you in my office when you're done."

With that he walks away. "I wonder what he wants." She thinks to herself.

Kit notices that Nikita is distracted.

Kit: "Something wrong?"

Nik: "No, Why don't you take a shower to get cleaned up, and relax. I need to talk with Michael for a minute, okay?."

Kit: "Okay."

MICHAEL'S OFFICE:

"How am I going to get her to trust me enough to open up and tell me what's wrong?" He thinks. Nikita walks in and notices that Michael is in deep thought. "Wonder what he's planning now." She thinks.

Nik: "You wanted to talk to me?"

Mich: "Yes. Come in and close the door. Please sit."

Nik: "I'll stand."

Mich: "Very well."

Nik: "So?"

Mich: "Is there something wrong with Kit or her training?"

Nik: "No, she's great, and training is going great."

Mich: "Is there anything I should know about?"

Nik: "What are you up to Michael? Why are you being so nice to me? What does Section want me to do now? Kill Kit or something?" She snaps.

Mich: "No. Section doesn't want anything for you. Is there something wrong with me being curious about there being something wrong with you or Kit's training?."

Nik: "No, I guess not. Sorry for snapping at you."

Madeline walks in.

Made: "Briefing in 10 minutes."

DEBRIEFING ROOM:

Ops: "We have a problem."

Mich: "What is it?"

Ops: "We just received word that Maples is leaving the US in 4 days. So we have to move tomorrow."

Nik: "But Kit's not ready yet."

Ops: "Oh well. We have to move. No one leaves tonight. We start first thing in the morning. Go get you're clothes, and come back. Dismissed."

Everyone goes to their apartments to get their supplies for the next few days.

CHAPTER 4

NIKITA'S APARTMENT:

The radio is playing "The Mummers Dance" by Lorenna McKennitt, very loud. Michael walks in and over to the radio and turns it off. Nikita jumps because she didn't hear him come in or anything.

Nik: "What are you doing here?"

Mich: "I thought you might need a ride."

Nik: "Thanks."

Mich: "I see you've done more decorating to your apartment." He is looking at some hearts made of different color wiring.

Nik: "Yeah, I did those a couple of nights ago."

Mich: "You did this a few nights ago?"

Nik: "Yeah, I couldn't sleep and I was bored."

Mich: "Sorry to hear that."

"What are you up to Michael?" Nikita thinks. She watches Michael out of the corner of her eye, and sees him touching the hearts. She starts to feel uncomfortable for some reason.

Nik: "Ready?"

Mich: "Yeah."

BACK AT SECTION:

Nikita is getting ready to go to sleep and putting her clothes out for the next day when Kit knocks on the door. She walks in after Nikita doesn't answer the door. Nikita looks up at her and notices she looks worried about something.

Nik: "Is there something wrong?"

Kit: "I just saw Michael. He looks like he's upset."

Nik: "Where's he at?"

Kit: "In his office, but the door is closed."

Nik: "Okay. Get some sleep. You can stay in here."

Kit: "Thank you."

Kit goes and lays down on the bed while Nikita finishes setting her clothes out.

MICHAEL'S OFFICE:

Nikita knocks on the door, but there is no answer. She turns to walk away when Michael opens the door. He looks as though he's been crying about something.

Nik: "Is there something wrong? Do you want to talk about it?"

Mich: "I would like to talk. Come in."

Nikita walks in while he closes the door and the blinds, and turns on the lights. She sits down in a chair in front of him as he sits down.

Nik: "What's up Michael?"

Mich: "Nothing. Where's Kit?"

Nik: "In my room, sleeping."

Mich: "That's good" he pauses, "Where are you going to sleep then?"

Nik: "I dunno. I probably won't. I keep having nightmares."

Mich: "Well come on."

Nik: "I thought you wanted to talk?"

Mich: "Come on."

Nik: "Where are we going?"

Mich: "Well I need to do some work in my quarters, so you can use the bed and get some sleep, while I'm working."

He holds out his hand to her. She looked at him with a funny expression on her face, but then realizes that she is tired.

Nik: "Okay. But no funny business."

She smiles, and then takes his hand and he helps her up. He opens the door, and they are on their way to his quarters.

Nik: "That's it! Get ready to be canceled Michael."

She can feel the blood run off the blade on to her hand as she holds his lifeless body.

She wakes up screaming again. Michael comes over and sits on the bed beside her, to comfort her. When she realizes he was beside her, she hugged him and begins to cry. He holds her for a few minutes. Then they lay down and she falls asleep listening to his heart beating. She sleeps the rest of the night in his arms. She doesn't have anymore nightmares the rest of the night.

CHAPTER 5

DAY 1 of OPERATION: KIDNAP:

Kit: "Hey Kris!" she calls to a nice looking young man across the park.

He turns to look at her, but doesn't recognize her at first, until she starts walking towards him. The closer she gets, the more he realizes who it is.

Kit: "Hey, how's everything going?"

Kris: "Hey. I haven't seen you in...... forever. Things could be better."

Kit: "Why?"

Kris: "I haven't been out in weeks."

Kit: "Well, I guess you're in luck today, then."

Kris: "Why?"

Kit: "Because I'm taking you out to a movie."

Kris: "Okay. Sounds great to me. When?"

Kit: "How's Friday, tomorrow?"

Kris: "Great. I'll see you then."

Kit: "Okay, later."

She gives him a hug and they go their separate ways.

SECTION:

Kit: "Everything is set for tomorrow night."

Ops: "Good. Michael, Nikita are you ready?"

They both nodded their heads.

Ops: "Good. Get some sleep. Dismissed."

Nikita is sleeping on the floor while Kit sleeps in her bed again. Michael walks in and sees her. He walks over to her quietly, and picks her up. He carries her to his room. He lays her down on his bed. He stood there watching her. He brushed the hair away from her face and then went to sit behind the desk and watched her some more. Soon he falls asleep watching her sleep.

DAY 2 of OPERATION: KIDNAP:

MADELINE'S OFFICE:

(just before the plan goes into action)

Kit and Nikita are with Madeline in her office. Nikita and Madeline are helping Kit get ready for the mission, and are helping her pick out an outfit.

Kit: "Well? What do you think?"

Nik: "You look beautiful."

Made: "You know Walter was right, Nikita? She does look like you."

Nik: "No, she's more beautiful than me." She says looking at Kit.

Kit: "Thank you."

Michael walks in to get Kit.

Mich: "Are you ready to go Kit?"

Kit: "Yeah."

Mich: "Then let's go. First we have to take you to Walter to get you ready."

Michael takes Kit to Walter's workshop. Walter looks up from his new toy.

Walt: "Hey Sugar. I see you're not wearing your heels."

Mich: "Walter, this is Kit. She needs a tracker."

Walt: "Oh, sorry. You look so much like 'Kita. Here you go."

Walter gives her a heart shape locket.

Walt: "Just push the back and it will set the tracker off."

THE DATE:

Kris: "You look so beautiful. Shall we go?"

Kit: "Sure. You look great too."

Kris: "Thank you. Where's your car?"

Kit: "I thought we could walk. If you don't mind?"

Kris: "No, not at all. That is a beautiful locket."

Kit: "Thank you, it was my mother's."

She looked at it and picked it up. As she is holding it, she pushes the back of it to set the tracker off. They have been walking down the street for about 5 minutes when Kris realizes that it was almost empty of people and cars.

Kris: "Are you sure this is the way?"

Kit: "Yeah. The movies are just around the corner."

When they walk around the corner two people jump out of a van and throw a bag over Kit and a bag over Kris. One of them knocks Kris out while the other does the same to Kit.

When Kit and Kris awaken, they are tied up. Kit is looking at the kidnappers and remembers they are Michael and Nikita.

Kit: "Okay you guys. You can let me go now."

Mich: "Sorry. That's not part of the mission profile."

Kit: "But...Wait a minute! What's going on here?!"

Nik: "Sorry, but Operations told us we had to keep you tied up too. Get some sleep. We're going to contact Maples first thing in the morning."

With that, Kit relaxes a little, and soon falls asleep. Michael and Nikita take turns watching and sleeping during the night.

CHAPTER 6

MISSION EXECUTED:

The next day Michael is up early. He made contact with Maples and they had made all the arrangements before anyone else was up.

Mich: "The meet is set. He thinks his son is somewhere under ground."

Nik: "Where's the meeting place?"

Mich: "In the field over. So get ready."

Michael is about to leave, when Nikita grabs his arm.

Nik: "Be careful Michael."

He looks at her, and gives her a small smile. She almost doesn't noticed it. Then he is gone.

1 HOUR LATER:

Michael is waiting in the field while Nikita is in the house. A helicopter flies over and then Nikita hears guns going off.

Nik: "Michael?" She says as a fear fills her heart.

She opens the door just in time for Michael to run in the house.

Nik: "What happened?"

Mich: "It went bad, it was a trap."

Nik: "Now what?"

Maples: "Now you die." He says as he walks in the house. Nikita runs over to Kris, who is about to escape because he is now untied, thanks to the knife he had. She yanks him out of the chair and points the gun to his head. Michael grabs Kit in the same manner and also puts a gun to her head.

Maples: "You think that's going to stop me?"

Maples points the gun at Kris. There is a sudden loud noise. Nikita realizes Maples has shot Kris. Michael lets go of Kit, and shoots the gun from Maples hand and then his leg. Nikita shoots both guards and follows Michael outside to look for others.

When Nikita and Michael return, Nikita thinks she is dreaming again. Kit is kneeling down with Kris in her lap like she was with Michael in her dream. She goes over to comfort her. After a few minutes she tells Kit it is time to go, and helps her up. They go to the van and are back at Section before Kit even knows where she is.

SECTION:

1 WEEK LATER:

Kit had begun training again two days after they got back from the mission. She is training with Michael while Nikita is talking to Madeline.

Made: "She's still upset and her emotions are still unbalanced. Why?"

Nik: "She had feelings for Kris a long time ago."

Made: "Oh. Well I'm sure she'll heal soon. Why don't you go home and get some rest. She'll be alright."

Madeline walks away, but Nikita stands there watching Kit a little bit longer. Kit goes to take a shower, and Michael walks up to Nikita.

Mich: "She seems to be doing fine, if you're wondering."

Nik: "No, she's not. She's dying inside. Soon she may take your place Michael."

Mich: "Not as long as she has you, she won't turn cold and heartless."

He smiles at Nikita, and gives her a gentle kiss on the lips.

Mich: "Good night my Nikita. Sweet dreams."

Nik: "Thank you, and the same to you to Michael."

With that she leaves for her apartment. She is having a hard time sleeping. Instead of the dream about Michael, she has begun to have another dream. But that's another story...........
